  • Heartwarming Moments: Even though this game has its fair share of terrifying and sad moments, there are those said moments which warms your heart.
    • The fact that Emily hasn't disowned her own cousin Sally after what she failed to do shows that even though she was furious at her, she still cares about Sally.
    • After escaping HELPLESSNESS, the first thing Emily does is hug Sally like for the first time in far too many weeks.
    • Though she failed to help Emily from being bullied at school, Sally does the right thing in the end and helps her cousin escape from the dark town.
  • Nightmare Fuel: If there's one thing this game has a lot of, it's the stuff that fuels nightmare.
    • As it turns out, there is a very good reason why the dark version of Bethelwood exists...
  • Tear Jerker: GYLT has a good many sad moments, throughout the course of the game:
    • Emily's horrible, sad wails and crying as she's held up by a monster which is hanging her from a ceiling, forcing her to watch sad videos of her life is painful for many players to listen to.
    • Learning Emily's entire backstory is very upsetting:
      • She originally lived in another town, but had to move when her grandfather, who she was very close to, died.
      • After moving, Emily was a new student in school, but all the other kids started to pick on her. Observers did nothing to help.
      • Emily's attempts to make friends consistently failed, and she never knew why.
      • Emily reached out to Sally for help, but Sally didn't help, and Sally's friends joined in the bullying as well.
