- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Kakarot and Raditz briefly talk about their parents, and the conversation makes it out as though their mother might possibly be alive, giving a foreshadowing that either she'd appear or they'd go look for her... but it never goes anywhere nor is it mentioned again. The author has acknowledged this though.
- Crack Pairing: Yamcha lampshades this when he finds out Nam and Ranfan are married with a child.
- Cry for the Devil: It's hard not to feel some measure of sympathy for both Chiaotzu and Cell.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Inyon, who was a popular OC from the author's other work, The Fall of Lord Frieza.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: A meta example. The author seems to like characters like Yamcha, Krillin and Chi Chi, and seems to want to make them more useful than they were in canon.
