!! For the [[Anime/GhostStories anime series]]:
* AcceptableTargets: Monsters supposedly only attack evil people like Republicans.
** Also Jews, Blacks, Asians, born-again Christians, lesbians, and the mentally disabled. It might be easier to list targets that ''aren't'' acceptable in the dub.
* AnimationAgeGhetto: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpSvRc7pNbI Ignored completely]] in the GagDub.
* ClicheStorm: ''Every'' horror cliché gets used at some point in this series, naturally lampshaded in the GagDub.
* CrossesTheLineTwice: The dub.
** Especially the things [[TheFundamentalist Momoko]] says.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: Too many to list in the gag dub. That's why it has its own page.
** Leo's voice actor in the dub, Creator/GregAyres, is well known for his jokes about Christian Slater's acting career and it even became a slight RunningGag in the dub, as he mentioned "Christian Slater's career" when listing the people boarding the ferry to River Styx.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Amanojaku is the greatest character in the entire show. How could you go wrong with a DeadpanSnarker ghost cat?
** Momoko and her ridiculous fundamentalism.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The joke with Reiichirou and the Merry Mary doll becomes a lot less funny when you learn that his voice actor Illich Guardiola was arrested in 2014 for sexual assault of a 16 year old.[[note]] The case is fairly messy. Legal age of consent in Texas is 17, and he was her teacher, ''and'' he took her across state lines to marry her (thus breaking three laws right there). However, the girl and her parents refused to cooperate with the cops and prosecutors had to drop the charges for lack of evidence.[[/note]]
** In episode 3, Amanojaku jokes that the school play will be the first "R-Rated bloodbath in an elementary school." Which is very unfortunate after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012.
** The scene in Episode 7 where Satsuki asks her compact mirror who's the prettiest girl around and Amanojaku answers with Creator/LindsayLohan. Today, that response would be considered incredibly ironic; it wasn't back in 2005.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Very few people in Japan know this anime even exists, but the GagDub made it a cult hit in North America.
* GrowingTheBeard: ADV's dub is okay early on, actually staying fairly close to the original script in the first two episodes, becoming a bit looser in episodes 3 and 4. Episode 5 and onward is where they really start to improvise and where the dub hits its stride.
* HilariousInHindsight: English dub episode 19, "Please stay tuned for probably ''the'' hottest homosexual newscaster on the planet… my friend, Anderson Cooper." This came out six years before Cooper publicly outed himself.
** [[Series/{{Supernatural}} A missing parent leaves a journal of supernatural information to two children.]]
** The English dub makes Amanojaku an expy of Salem when he possessed Kaya's body, who has mismatched eyes. WesternAnimation/SabrinaSecretsOfATeenageWitch would make Salem have the same mismatched eyes.
** One of the early episodes has a ghost haunting the school bathrooms and sucks people in through the very toilets they use never to be seen again. [[Anime/PantyandStockingWithGarterbelt sound familar now?]]
** The dub's RunningGag about Christian Slater's career becomes this after his CareerResurrection after being in ''Series/MrRobot.''
* MemeticMolester: Babasare. Seriously what is the reason of her appearing ''only'' to children?
* MisBlamed[=/=]MisaimedFandom: Creator/ADVFilms occasionally catches flak for the personality changes in their dub of this series. Actually, ADV was told to do whatever it took to make the series sell… so they did.
* {{Narm}}:
** The episode where the characters ''get sucked into the spirit world through the toilet''. Obviously ADV thought it was just as unintentionally funny.
** Satsuki's father at one point holds the cursed doll... only for it to give a close-up of him holding it ''face-first to his crotch''. Of course ADV made fun of it.
* MostAnnoyingSound: Keichiro's voice in the dub, hands down. Though, considering a lot of his dialogue consists exclusivley of random babling, this was obviously intentional.
** Invoked for a gag in one episode wherein Satsuki yells at her brother and her dad, making her voice raise several pitches.
--> "And I thought her mother's voice grated on my nerves."
* SoOkayItsAverage: The general opinion on the original Japanese version, and part of the reason it didn't catch on. Even the unusually high quality voice cast couldn't save it. Opinions on the GagDub, on the other hand…
* SpecialEffectFailure: In one episode (7), Satsuki and Hajime are animated to run down the hall... except the hall is not moving, so they are literally running in place. [[LampshadeHanging Naturally the voice actors made fun of it]].
* SubbingVersusDubbing: Regardless what you think about the English dub, on the other hand the Spanish dub not only is a literal straight dub, but [[SoOkayItsAverage also a relatively mediocre one]] due to the [[DubNameChange changed names]] (the English keeps most of the original names) and wooden performances.[[note]] Although that was because in Argentinian Spanish it's very difficult to pronounce some Japanese words and names, compared with other Spanish dialects.[[/note]] [[note]]There was some confusion as to whether the Spanish dub was done in Argentina or Colombia, a look at TheOtherWiki states that it was done in Argentina.
* ValuesDissonance: The dub itself, despite still having a ''lot'' of funny moments that are still funny over ten years later, has some jokes that were okay for the time
** A lot of the jokes with Leo involve the punchline being that he is Jewish. In 2017, with antisemitism being quite high, it can make some of these jokes a little more cringe-worthy.
** The RunningGag about Kayako dressing like a lesbian (Especially using "Dyke" to describe it) and all the jokes about people being gay as the punchlines. In the 90s and 00s, this was ''very'' common, but good luck doing that and getting laughter these days.
** "These pajamas are ''gay''!" Try calling something "Gay" in the new tens and expect a laugh.
** "Think of a big black man chasing you!" was still rather [[IncrediblyLamePun racy]] at the time, but it wouldn't fly over in the new tens.

!! For the Literature/GhostStories books by SeananMcGuire:
* EarWorm: Given the songs the chapters are all named for, there's an actual pop music soundtrack that might get into a reader's head.
* GeniusBonus: Apple the Routewitch Queen's origin can be derived from hints within the story with some digging. It's not pretty.
