* AntiClimaxBoss: Roarke at the end of the film.
* CompleteMonster: The aforementioned ComicBook/Mephisto returns from the first film. As Roarke, he reveals that in order to walk on Earth he needs a human body; not only does this limit his power but his current body is now dying. Among his previous host bodies were UsefulNotes/JosefStalin, UsefulNotes/IdiAmin, and John Wayne Gacy. To create a permanent and powerful host body, Mephisto conceived a child with Nadya Ketch. It's also revealed that in order to create the Ghost Rider, Mephisto dragged Zarathos, the Angel of Justice, into hell, torturing and twisting him into insanity. When Nadya and her child Danny escape, Mephisto masterminds a demonic conspiracy of murder to get his hands on Danny in preparation to destroy the boy's soul, possess him and bring about the Anti Christ. When Johnny, Nadya and Moreau disrupt this ritual, Mephisto makes a final attempt to flee and abduct Danny before his final confrontation with Ghost Rider.
* ContestedSequel: Either the movie was an improvement over the previous movie or the worst of the two films.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Moreau.
** If you're not a fan of the NarmCharm, it goes extra for Nadya as well. Her entire story is perhaps the only good thing about the film.
* FridgeBrilliance:
** Idris Elba playing a guardian warrior monk.
** Why is the Rider so incredibly psychotic in the film? Johnny's been keeping him locked away. He hasn't had any fun in a long time, and suddenly he's been given carte blanche to do whatever it takes to find Danny. Let the slaughter begin!
*** Could also explain why Johnny himself acts so absolutely friggin' nuts through the whole movie, and actually seems to calm down during the period when he's de-powered. It's repeatedly said that the fallen angel that inhabits him is literally insane.
** The Rider's line in the first trailer released on-line also shows that in addition to being completely out there in terms of his brutality, he also has a disturbed sense of humor when he kills someone.
--->Ghost Rider: Roadkill.
* HamAndCheese: Nicolas Cage is clearly having fun this time around.
* NarmCharm: The Movie.
