YMMV / Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2

Go To

  • Good Bad Bugs: Advanced Warfighter 2 fixed a bug (from the previous game) where teammates wouldn't use suppressing fire. As such, it's harder to get them to act like soldiers and simply cover a zone, rather than engage soldiers in that area.
  • Sequel Difficulty Spike: Zig-zagged with the PC version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. Enemy reaction time and aim are much more reasonable compared to the Rainbow Six-like superhuman aimbots of the first G.R.A.W. game, and the interface for commanding A.I. squadmates has been vastly improved. However, lost health is no longer restored at checkpoints, fixed turrets are now a One-Hit Kill and can snipe you from across the map if they have line of sight, and the game has a serious case of Schizophrenic Difficulty as the first couple of levels are set in wide open areas with minimum cover that heavily favor the enemy A.I; also, the levels in the second half of the game suffer from a serious case of Checkpoint Starvation (although a quicksave feature was added in by a patch to mitigate this).
  • That One Level: The final mission of the PC version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is an insane jump in difficulty compared to the rest of the game. The level begins with you being inserted via helicopter drop right into the line of fire of 3 .50 turrets and a RPG soldier. While the player usually makes it to the ground alright, it's extremely common for some or even all of your squad members to be mowed down before you even gain control of your character. Starting the level with an intact team and full health is largely a matter of dumb luck and reloading the level over and over. After defeating all the enemies at the beginning of the level, what follows is probably the hardest segment in the game, in which you have to cross a bridge while dealing with many Elite Mooks and even One-Hit Kill .50 turrets on the other side who can snipe you to death outside the range at which the game renders them; you also have to deal with a helicopter gunship and a tank along the way. To top it off the far side of the bridge has almost no cover for you to hide behind, and the whole fairly long section has to be completed in one go due to Checkpoint Starvation (the game has a quicksave feature, but you can't use it in combat).
