YMMV / Gandarrapiddo! The Revenger Squad

• Critical Dissonance: Despite having mixed to negative reviews from critics, it didn't keep Gandarrapido from grossing over 500 million pesos, mostly from the masses who were looking for an escapist comedy for them to enjoy during the holidays.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The film's Working Title of The Revengers sounds suspiciously similar to The Avengers, leading some to think it was a thinly-veiled parodic reference to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the trailers for Thor: Ragnarok has Thor joke about forming his own superhero team called the Revengers. By that time The Revengers is already known under the title Gandarah N’ Gwapito: The Revengers. It is speculated that the name change was done to avoid any trademark conflict with Disney who holds the rights to the Marvel franchises, only for the film to premiere as Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad, only adding "Squad" which could be yet another shout-out to Suicide Squad (2016).
• It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: While the film is arguably a financial success, many of the critical reviews for the film pointed out Vice's continued reliance on the same old, tired punchlines he rehashed over and over in his films.
• Squick: Chino is attracted to Cassandra and there's a considerable amount of Ship Tease despite their actors Daniel Padilla and Pia Wurtzbach's age gap. Cassandra is also Emy's sister. Even though Chino is not Emy's biological brother, Chino still grew up seeing Emy as his older sister figure, so they're still adoptive siblings. Emy says as much in the ending, saying that he's her true brother despite the lack of blood relations. At least they don't push the Ship Tease past The Reveal, if nothing else.
