* BrokenBase: The April 01, 2012 strip (the one with Jason watching the ''Series/GameOfThrones[=/=]WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' crossover) split the fanbase up into whether Bill Amend was supposed to be portraying bronies positively or negatively. One brony was so hurt over the comic, he [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation made a theory that Jason's shocked face was of delight, and he was looking for a pitchfork because the episode was]] ''fake''. Then again, it's relatively clear which series Jason favors as a proud nerd who doesn't like works tailored for girls or young children.
* FridgeBrilliance: At [[SouvenirLand 'Fun Fun Universe']] there's a mascot on every bag and hat in the park. [[spoiler:It's a mosquito.]]
* FunnyAneurysmMoment:
** [[http://www.gocomics.com/foxtrot/1996/05/20 This comic]] became less funny after the death of [[Film/GrizzlyMan Timothy]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Treadwell Treadwell]]. Or, mileage varying as it will, [[HilariousInHindsight more]] [[BlackComedy funny]].
** The strip dealing with Roger's nightmare about his stock accounts being worthless if donated certainly qualifies as well.
** Notably prevented: The strip published July 22, 2012 was supposed to be showing Paige in the crosshairs of Jason's squirt gun. However, two days before it was supposed to run, a person named James Holmes wearing a gas mask entered a Colorado movie theater that was showing ''Film/TheDarkKnightRises'' and proceeded to wildly fire his gun at the audience, killing 12 people and injuring 59 others. Bill Amend then pulled the strip and replaced it with a repeat of a 2009 strip.
* GeniusBonus: If we listed them, we'd be here all day. Let's just say that Amend is a physics major and it shows.
* HilariousInHindsight: Thanks to being as ReferenceOverdosed as it is, this strip has run into this quite a few times:
** Pretty much any comic where Jason expresses enthusiasm about the ''Franchise/StarWars'' prequel trilogy is this, thanks to HypeBacklash. In one especially hilarious instance, he starts spreading false information in the hopes of getting an opening day ticket; one of his claims is that Lucas decided to remove all the CG effects, resulting in [[TheScrappy Jar-Jar Binks]] becoming "Jar-Jar Binks, Jedi Master of Invisibility". Now consider the Phantom Edit...
** Also, the strip where Jason and Marcus attempt to pitch an idea to Hollywood of making a sequel to ''Film/{{Titanic 1997}}'' detailing a bigger, faster, and more safe one than before (which sinks because Paige Fox goes on it due to a lottery ticket) becomes even more funny when they actually did make [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic_II a Titanic sequel in 2010]], this time a Disaster-genre Film.
** In one strip from June 1988, Peter calls a woman on the phone, who thinks he's someone named "Steve", causing Peter to ask who Steve is. Four months later, we meet Peter's best friend, named Steve.
** Jason's idea of adding in a "Darth Jason" character to the special editions of the Star Wars original trilogy (who also becomes a Sith Lord) becomes either hilarious or not as funny when ''Literature/LegacyOfTheForce'' has Jacen Solo becoming a Sith Lord. Likewise, Jason becoming a Sith while Luke (who is Jason's older brother) remains a Jedi in his drafts definitely become hilarious when one takes into account VideoGame/StarWarsBattlefront Elite Squadron, which does have the main character (X2) becoming a Jedi and his brother (X1) becoming a Sith.
** The Thanksgiving Sunday strip where an apocalyptic leadin leading to Peter having his 38th slice of Turkey and Jason musing about this beating out ''Film/IndependenceDay'' becomes even more funny after ''Film/TwoThousandTwelve'', which bears several similarities to the leadin regarding disasters.
** At the end of the arc where Jason got addicted to ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' merchandise, he was musing that Bart Simpson fad is passe (which he said just because Paige brought a Bart shirt and liked it). Pretty funny when you consider that ''The Simpsons'' has become the longest running western cartoon ever and is ''still'' going to this day, but it gets better when you consider that Homer would usurp Bart's role as the most popular character a mere year or two later.
** In 2000, ''Magazine/{{Mad}}'' did an article that consisted of a fake set of comics for ''L'Osservatore Romano'', the official Vatican newspaper. One of said comics included Jason reading the Bible and saying, "God has an unseen power that's everywhere, inside everything. Satan tries to seduce Jesus over to the dark side, then Jesus comes back from the dead[] If I'm not mistaken, George Lucas has the mother of all copyright-infringement lawsuits here." A few years later, ''[=FoxTrot=]'' ran a strip whose [[http://www.gocomics.com/foxtrot/2005/03/27 punch line]] was remarkably similar to the parody one in ''Mad''.
** [[http://www.gocomics.com/foxtrot/1996/04/02 This one]] becomes funnier given Michael Jordan would later wear a Hitler mustache in Hanes ads.
** When [[http://www.foxtrot.com/2012/03/11/beyond-mars/ this strip was released]], fans already knew it was [[AcclaimedFlop very unlikely]] that ''Film/JohnCarterOfMars'' would ever beget a sequel.
** Roger's company is having financial trouble and has had to lay people off...his boss, Pembroke, asks him to put together graphs to justify his ''raise'', when he already ''has'' millions. Amend successfully predicted the behaviours of banks, Wall Street, and corporations post 2000, and one of the reasons that led to the Occupy Wall Street movements!
** In [[http://www.gocomics.com/foxtrot/2010/10/31 the strip for Halloween 2010]], Jason dress up as Creator/GeorgeLucas, trying to justify it as scary by explaining he's planning to have all six ''Franchise/StarWars'' films in 3D, which was indeed true at the time. The strip is either this or an UnintentionalPeriodPiece nowadays, as only the 3D version of ''Film/ThePhantomMenace'' ever came out (the other five were cancelled due to to Creator/{{Disney}} buying Lucasfilm and wanting to focus on Episode VII instead).
** One strip from the early 2000s has Paige keep forcing the old iFruit to sing Christmas carols while she's doing online shopping. Cue winter 2014- Amazon implemented an option that would stream Christmas carols in the background while one is shopping on their store.
** In one April Fool's Day strip, Jason is horrified because the TV network makes a joke about ''Series/GameOfThrones'' doing a crossover with ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''. Later, ''FriendshipIsMagic'' itself made a reference to ''Game of Thrones'' in "Tanks For the Memories" when Twilight Sparkle says "Winter is coming."
** One of the earliest strips had Jason ordering [[XRayVision X-Ray Specs]] from a comic book and embarrassing Paige by claiming that she's wearing leopard-print underwear, which she denies. About two decades later, there's a comic where Paige dresses in a leopard-print outfit to "maul" her chocolate Easter rabbit...including leopard-print undies, by her own admission.
** When Jason finds out that the way to get past an extremely tough boss in his video game is to ''not'' attack it and walk past it peacefully, he notes how "counter-intuitive" the strategy is. By 2015 we have {{Undertale}}, where making peace with monsters instead of attacking them is not only an option, but openly recommended within the game itself (and the only way to get the GoldenEnding).
* JerkassWoobie:
** Peter can be a jerkass sometimes (for instance the LoveLetterLunacy arc)...but he's the ButtMonkey of the ''[=FoxTrot=]'' universe. It's really easy to see why he's prone to {{Jerkass}} moments.
** Also, some of Jason's more Jerkass moments towards Paige Fox become somewhat more understandable when it was revealed that Paige often tried to scare Jason with her teddy bear.
** Paige may be a jerk to her brothers but Jason goes out of his way to mock her with his Paige-o-Tron comics and taunt her with Quincy, she has no friends outside from Nicole who is more popular with boys, her older brother tricked her into waiting in the rain for a fake boyfriend by writing phony love letters, all of Paige's attempts to get a hobby are treating like jokes (cooking, auditioning for a play, writing a short story), the kid she babysits for calls her "Pag" (which is also baby-talk for "pig"), she's not good at any of her classes in school (and Jason has actively tried to make her grades WORSE by giving her wrong answers when she asked for homework help) and Morton Goldthwait, the one boy who was willing to date her is implied to have gotten over his crush.
* MagnificentBastard: Jason.
* TheScrappy: Andy, to some people, as she can be hypocritical, tends to get the last word, and is prone to addicting behavior.
* SeasonalRot: How some feel about the strip's transition to the Sunday-only format, though others believe it had reached this point long beforehand.
* ToyShip: Jason and Eileen.
* UglyCute: Quincy's pretty adorable.
* ValuesDissonance: Up until the mid-90s, Paige or Peter would regularly [[BigBrotherBully beat up Jason]] after being on the receiving end of his pranks. With school bullying a huge problem these days, such strips would have a hard time getting published.
