YMMV / Fire Emblem: Eckesachs

  • Breakout Character:
    • Jahn is the most beloved character in this hack by far. From his comedic dialogue to being a fun dragon-type unit. His character development impressed many as well, going from a simplistic jerkass in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade to a genuinely sympathetic character that protects what he was supposed to hate.
    • Who would've expected an NPC to be the hero of this story? Mieu, a very minor supporting character in her original game, becomes playable with a hidden tragic arc that intertwines with Jahn's. As a result she earned plenty of fans for her surprising amount of spotlight and character depth.
  • Broken Base: Roy's depiction in this story can make or break the mod for some people. Many find his characterization unnatural and his eventual breakdown way too over the top, to the point its a disservice to his character and turned fans away completely. Others found themselves sympathizing with Roy or don't find his writing all too egregious: pointing out that he's a 15 year old boy losing everything he knew and loved.
  • Complete Monster: Zephiel plays this role, exploring the depravity of his beliefs and actions. He performs so many heinous acts that other bad if not worse villains are disgusted with him.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Due to the nature of a hack focusing entirely on lesser appreciated characters, plenty have earned this status when compared to their lack of screentime in their home series.
    • Tick earned a few fans and praise from his exceptional performance as a unit.
    • Sigune received a notable character expansion in this hack, leading to a significant in appreciation for this one-off character.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Mieu provides this in spades, she evolves from an ordinary child NPC to a playable character that can be a formidable unit. In addition to that, Mieu uses her newfound strength to become a leader of the new rebellion army and succeeds against Zephiel: landing the killing blow on him and all.
  • Unexpected Character: Several characters' inclusions are surprising even for the lowered standards of one-off Elibe bosses.
    • Mitan serving as an early game axe unit is an unexpected inclusion and one of the first units to show crossovers between Fire Emblem games for this hack.
    • Lamia the Heartless from Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Her status from another game is surprising enough but her being chosen out of countless options is something nobody could've saw coming.
    • Acheron from Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a hilarious, albeit unexpected choice for enemy units to be apart of the army.
    • Sommie getting chosen as a playable unit from Fire Emblem Engage is impressive, doubly so as he serves as the game's mystical endgame defining unit.
    • The secret character takes the cake. Shouzou Kaga being a playable character is on another level of shocking.
