• Audience-Alienating Ending: The cancellation of this show along with the fact that it made "The Devil's Den" the last episode of the series caused several fans and viewers to become angry at how "The Devil's Den" ended with Invictus breaking free from Final Space. These fans criticized the episode for making the entire series look like an unsatisfying Shoot the Shaggy Dog Story when series creator Olan Rogers admitted that he had an entirely different ending to the show in mind and lamented that he never got to show his desired ending for the series.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: This episode is notorious for being the episode where the series abruptly ends because of the decision to cancel it by David Zaslav and other executives who spearheaded the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery. Several fans of the show were infuriated at the fact that the show got concluded in an abrupt and unsatisfying way with many dangling plot threads and they grew even angrier at Zaslav when Final Space was not only revealed to be pulled from HBO Max but was being written off for tax purposes.
