YMMV / Eden (2016)

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: The posh boy getting a good dose of karma when the crazy junkie attacks him immediately after he antagonises Adam.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Adam being found leaning against a car looks like he's about to get disrespected again but the taxi driver realises he's homeless, shares some of his own experiences and gives Adam a twenty without him having to ask for it.
    • Adam then gives up that twenty to the prostitute Claire just so she can take her daughter to McDonalds for her birthday.
    • The growing connection between Adam and Eve. You can tell she may have - if not fallen for him - at least grown to like him as a friend.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Lots given the nature of the film, but most notably the director himself Robbie Walsh as a taxi driver who experienced homelessness himself, and gives Adam a twenty (and a nice pep talk).
  • Slow-Paced Beginning: Some reviews felt that the first few scenes of Adam wandering around on his own got the film off to a slow start, but the pace picked up as soon as he begins interacting with other characters. Of course that could be the Intended Audience Reaction - to show the boredom associated with being homeless.
  • Stoic Woobie: Adam considering how sucky his life is. He remains stoic, only getting emotional when casually revealing his backstory.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: We're meant to see Adam in the wrong for getting aggressive towards the woman at the bus stop. Except she was incredibly rude and ignorant; rather than either giving Adam some change or simply saying she didn't want to give him anything, she goes out of her way to ignore him and Kick the Dog - "you don't exist to me" - so you can hardly blame Adam for calling her out on this.
