- Spoiled by the Format: Specifically in regards to the Archive of Our Own server, which includes characters lists and relationships in the story headings. Especially in regards to the tagged relationship Jon Snow/Daenerys Targaryen. After over 40 chapters and 600,000 words the two characters have yet to encounter one another.
- According to Word of God, this was inadvertent; it was originally intended for Daenerys to have an prominent role earlier, but then the author changed their plan such that Book 1 would focus on Jon, and then Daenerys would only be introduced in Book 2.
