- Best Known for the Fanservice: Great attention is given to the numerous nubile young woman who constantly get naked and/or bound by Naughty Tentacles — oh, and there's dragons, too.
- Cliché Storm: Aside from the lovely image of zombie dragon tentacles, there isn't anything special about Dragonar Academy. The series is another Harem Genre Light Novel set in a high school "but with X," joining the leagues of others like it in the market.
- Just Here for Godzilla: There are plenty of people who thought the series wasn't anything better than mediocre who nonetheless watched for the dragons — which is a shame, as they're all same-looking meaty lizards that the writer and artist clearly had no real interest in.
- Unconvincingly Unpopular Character: The first volume insists that Ash Blake is a problem child and the laughingstock of the school because he doesn't have a dragon yet. We see none of this in the actual story — the only one who actually gives him grief about not having a dragon is his Tsundere soon-to-be Love Interest, and he otherwise gets along just fine with his classmates. The only time it's brought up is when other students remark how amazing it is that the "problem child" has risen in ranks so quickly — even though they've never treated him as such.
