  • Values Dissonance: It's mentioned that Greyhounds are seen as vicious dogs due to their speed and high prey drive. This is one of the reasons there's a stigma against lurchers. This might be confusing to American readers. Great Britain has a long history with wolfhounds, greyhounds, and lurchers as hunting dogs, but North Americans prefer scent hounds and terriers. Greyhounds are a relatively rare breed and are predominantly seen as either couch-potato housepets or speedy racing dogs.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The first part is nothing you wouldn't see in a middle-grade xenofiction series, but the book is aimed at teens and young adults. There's more blatant sexual references and sexual humor, as well as some violent moments.
