• Harsher in Hindsight: The UK being the only nation not to be able to put together its own starship would seem to indicate that Brexit went really, really poorly. The show itself would later indicate it at least shut UNIT down.
  • When about to kill the Space Whale, the Doctor says he would have top stop calling himself the Doctor because of his actions. This hits even harder after the reveal it wouldn't have been the first time he did this.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Liz Ten, the dynamic mixed-race queen of England, seems downright quaint after the Meghan Markle debacle that led Prince Harry and Markle to divorce themselves from the royal family.
  • Liz X mentions that the Doctor had "tea and scones with Liz II". Matt Smith would later play the Queen's husband Prince Phillip in The Crown. She also mentions how "Vicky was a bit on the fence" about the Doctor. In Victoria, Queen Victoria was played by Jenna Coleman.
• What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The Daily Mirror published an article claiming that the Doctor's line "And once every five years, everyone chooses to forget what they've learned. Democracy in action." should be read as a call to the public to re-elect Gordon Brown's Labour government. If so, it didn't work.
