YMMV / Doctor Who S28 E1 "New Earth"

• Alternative Character Interpretation: An interesting theme in "New Earth" related to its theme of what does it mean to be human is judging who does Rose become after being possessed. The narrative gives the impression that Rose and Cassandra are so different that undeniably Rose becomes the villanous Lady Cassandra. Cassandra herself, due to her materialist views, seems to think the opposite; that she has in fact, become Rose. The Doctor recognizes the possessed Rose as both, having qualities of both girls.
• Cry for the Devil: The Doctor and Rose are genuinely solemn as Cassandra slowly dies inside Chip's body and offer her a final request.
• Les Yay: Cassandra is so appreciative of Rose's body, it seems fair to wonder what she'd do to Rose if she was in a separate body. Or even if she had enough time to fool around with Rose's...
• Special Effect Failure: When Sister Jatt gets infected with a whole bunch of fatal diseases, she very conspicuously turns into a still image for a few seconds so that the disease effects can be digitally painted onto her. What makes it weirder is that they managed to depict Matron Casp getting infected in the same way while keeping her as live-action footage throughout.
