  • Designated Villain: The boss of the Fountain of Youth is described as an "evil mermaid", but she never does anything evil. Even when she's fighting you, she starts attacking after you shoot her first. It doesn't help that, after you shoot her, she starts crying...
  • Event-Obscuring Camera: The camera is decent for the majority of the game, but the second level of Queen Anne's Revenge has a noticeable issue where the camera frequently cuts your character out of the shot, making the level a whole lot more difficult than it really should be.
  • It's Easy, So It Sucks!: Even when going for a gold rank, all of the stages are pretty easy. While this is understandable, since it's a kids game, it doesn't give much appeal to an older audience.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: A common complaint with the base game is that there are only six worlds to go through, each with three levels in total (and each level only takes about a half-hour to complete). Additionally, you're only encouraged to play each level twice, so there isn't too much in the way of replay value. While the DLC packs do add a few more levels and costumes, it's not enough to make the game that much longer.
  • Unexpected Character: Most of the Monsters, Inc. costumes are based on major characters from the movie, like Mike, Sulley, Randall and Celia. For some reason, though, the last costume is based on the Sushi Chef, an extremely minor character who only appears in one scene.
