- Alternate Character Interpretation: Some have theorized that, rather than assimilating the patients into itself, the fungus simply kills them and overtakes their body. The phrase "I'M SO HAPPY" isn't said by the patient, but the fungus.
- Inferred Holocaust: The "flowering" surgery isn't exclusive to this one patient; apparently, mankind has faced an epidemic of increasingly lonely people who are getting the surgery willingly. Yes, people are so lonely that they are willing to give into a fungal infection Hive Mind just to alleviate it.
- Narm Charm: Some of the things the patient says can be unintentionally funny, since he is so cheerful and calm despite transforming into an abomination beyond recognition. However, the dissonance adds more to the horror; the patient really is that happy about a process that by all rights he should find completely horrifying.
- Nausea Fuel: And Nightmare Fuel, as you probably expected from a game centered around Body Horror.
