YMMV / Dinosaur Safari

  • Game-Breaker: The video recorder, obtained as soon as the player reaches Junior rank. By using the video recorder, the player is capable of recording the prehistoric reptile instead of taking a snapshot, allowing them to easily capture the perfect shot window of opportunity with ease and hence getting the full energy points for it.
  • Goddamned Bats:
    • Some dinosaurs like Saltasaurus and Thescelosaurus have a low chance to appear compared to others, causing the player to have to keep moving screens and back in order to get them to appear. Once the dinosaur call is obtained, it becomes much less of a hassle — though the dinosaur call also consumes a hefty amount of energy.
    • Plesiosaurus in the Early Jurassic. It is the only roving reptile that can be found in more than one specific area. There are only two reptiles that appear in the ocean, the harmless Ichthyosaurus, or the Plesiosaurus that will hit your pod for energy damage, and if the latter appears when you're trying to take an ocean route to another area you only have a few seconds to move screens to avoid damage.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Roving dinosaurs and reptiles can give one heck of a Jump Scare especially if you don't know it's coming, especially Plesiosaurus which can be encountered in several ocean areas. Even when the player knows which ones do, they would try to avoid them to the best of their ability thanks to said reptiles being capable of depleting your energy.
    • The areas where Quetzalcoatlus and Coelurus are found in have a dead dinosaur carcass complete with exposed raw flesh and bones. Both reptiles will appear in the area and start eating from said carcass.
    • The Triassic ocean was pretty eerie due to it's grey colour & ghostly sound.
    • The reptilian humanoid who acts as the player's guide can come across as unsettling, given his tendency to pop up suddenly and his Thousand-Yard Stare.
