YMMV / Der Langrisser

• Adaptation Displacement: While the original Langrisser II is a fine game in its own right and arguably superior in several ways (namely in terms of the Mega Drive soundtrack, game performance, overall challenge, and a higher quality Fan Translation), Der Langrisser is probably the more well known version due to it introducing the alignment system and thus becoming the basis for most re-releases of Langrisser II.
• Awesome Moments: Chapter 21 of the M route in the remake is made of this courtesy of Lushiris summoning the spirits of Ledin (the main hero from the first game) and Seighart (the original wielder and creator of Langrisser) to fight against Elwin's army. Nearly everyone, especially Rohga, is stoked about getting to do battle with a pair of legendary heroes.
• Awesome Music: Knights Errand (a mistranslation of the term "Knights Errant"), the level 1 battle music of Langrisser II is not only one of the best songs in the series, but one of the best songs on the Sega Genesis. It was given an equally awesome remix in Re:Incarnation Tensei and Mobile.
• Tear Jerker:
  • Vargas' death and the subsequent attempt by Leon to break the news to his wife.
  • Liana's Love Hurts moment in Chapter 21 of the M Route as she specifically requests her memories of Elwin be erased so she can fight him. It's even worse after she's killed and gets those memories back in her final moments. To twist the knife further, have Elwin be the one to finish her off.
