YMMV / Dance of the Dead

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Gwen is pretty popular for being humorously ditzy, yet genuinely sweet and getting a cool acrobatic scene while going for the car.
    • Nash gets some love for his design and letting loose with The Power of Rock in a plot-relevant way.
    • Coach Keel's tough nature and Large Ham status win him a lot of fans.
    • Jules of the sci-fi club is generally considered a funny guy who Took a Level in Badass pretty well.
    • The Creepy Good gravedigger is a scene stealer whenever he shows up.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: It's possible to prefer to ignore Steven and Gwen being zombified, especially for being so much darker than the rest of the film.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Looks like American Horror Story: Coven wasn't the first piece of horror fiction to have a frog risen from the dead, and a blonde girl who didn't like dissecting frogs.
  • Moe: Gwen, the Pom-Pom Girl who is upset about dissecting a frog, doesn't know how to use a machete, and has some Give Geeks a Chance interactions with Stephen.
  • One-Scene Wonder: The zombie frogs.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Arguably Gwen who gets some nice Character Development, as well as a level in badass, but is kind of pointlessly bitten (something she handles somewhat poorly, just to add a more bittersweet aspect to the climax). The same could apply to Steven, who also dies as a result of this and had an even bigger role.
    • The Gravedigger is well-remembered for what scenes he does have but he's absent for most of the movie and could have provided a nice addition to the rescue mission to the school.
    • The zombified frogs provide a non-human example, for only appearing in one scene when it would have been fun seeing them play a role in the climax.
