- Even Better Sequel: Crossed Swords II features improved graphics and sound, plus three selectable characters and bigger, varied stages. A shame it was confined to the Neo Geo CD.
- Older Than They Think: Crossed Swords, though innovative, isn't the first arcade Beat 'em Up from a first-person perspective, with The Super Spy (from SNK as well) beating it by a few years. However The Super Spy is mostly forgotten due to being a painfully generic action game with cookie-cutter enemies and repetitive gameplay that gets boring after a few minutes; Crossed Swords took the concept, recycles it in a fantasy setting, added a slew of different enemies and magical spells, and is generally seen as a tredmendous improvement.
