YMMV / Community S2 E09: Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design

• Fridge Brilliance: Part of the reason Annie and the Dean go through such an effort to teach Jeff that academic fraud is bad is because the entire reason he's at Greendale is because he faked his Bachelor's Degree, and clearly he still hasn't learnt that he can't scam the system.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: When Jeff and Annie chase Garrity into the blanket fort, Abed tells them "No smoking, no farting, and no pillow fighting."
• Like You Would Really Do It: When everyone's shooting each other during the Gambit Pile Up, it's painfully obvious that Jeff, Annie, and (to a lesser extent) Dean Pelton aren't going to die or kill anybody. Doesn't make it any less hilarious, though. And it's still all in service to setting up the "death" of Prof. Garrity/Wooley/Professorson, a first-time guest who is still fair-game.
  • Mitigated somewhat (particularly before Jeff is "shot") by the Zombie Apocalypse episode "Epidemiology," whose events remained in-canon and relevant despite its ridiculousness.
• Magnificent Bastard: Professor Sean Garrity is Greendale's charismatic drama teacher, who Dean Pelton approaches when he wants help in teaching Jeff about the dangers of academic fraud. For his part, Garrity creates a false identity, and a fake night school filled with non-existent courses, students and teachers. He then creates a false identity for his false identity, posing as Jeff's "Conspiracy Theories and U.S. History" teacher. After Jeff uncovers his true identity and decides to teach the Dean a lesson, Garrity complies and pretends to have been shot by Annie, resulting in a massive Gambit Pileup where Jeff, Annie, and Pelton think that one of them has really shot someone. After Officer Cackowski shoots him with a prop gun, Garrity reveals that he orchestrated everything to impart the lesson that guns, even prop ones, are not toys.
