YMMV / Combat! (1962)

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: It was one of the most highest rated TV series back in Japan during its initial airing, that reruns are quite common on satellite channels today for nostalgia. Similarly, the show is still quite popular nostalgically in Taiwan and Greece.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Both series star Vic Morrow and pilot director Boris Sagal were killed in grisly on-set accidents involving helicopters. (Morrow on the set of The Twilight Zone movie, and Sagal on the set of a 1982 Mini Series, World War III.)

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Peter Mark Richman guest-starred in an episode titled "The Hostages" as the pompous Villain of the Week Nazi SS Captain Aptmeyer who dies when Doc held Aptmeyer's face down into the grass until he suffocated. A couple decades later, Richman would appear Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, playing the equally pompous Asshole Victim Charles McCullough who dies face first drowning in a barrel of sewage.
    • After playing a German soldier twice in this show, Robert Duvall would play another in The Eagle Has Landed.
    • Peter Haskell plays a German-American G.I. in an episode titled "A Child's Game". Haskell would later be part of particular Killer Doll horror franchise called Child's Play.
    • Speaking of Child's Play, future horror director Tom Holland in his one of his early acting roles (and credited as Tom Fielding) and Michael Constantine both acted in an episode titled "Entombed" with Constantine playing a vengeful French Resistance fighter. After working with him, Holland would later cast Constantine as a vengeful centurion gypsy in the 1996 film adaptation of Stephen King's Thinner.
  • The Scrappy: Taking Early-Installment Weirdness into consideration, some viewers feel this way about Braddock, since he was essentially the Fat Comic Relief throughout the early part of the first season, which, to some, makes him seem out of place.
