• Values Dissonance: A man being so upset at learning his son is gay (and his fiancé is black to boot) that he flies across the country would be far less likely to be played for comedy today, still less when Coach advises him to just kick the kid out and never see him again. Still, it's progressive enough as the father quickly realizes that he has to learn to accept his son's sexuality or he'll lose him.
