YMMV / Casabianca

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: Giocante ends up dying when the warship explodes since he was waiting for his father, who he didn't know was already dead, to relieve him of duty. This has frequently been interpreted as a message against blindly following the orders of your parents.
  • Adaptation Displacement: It's arguable that more people are familiar with Spike Milligan's parody than with the actual poem.
  • So Bad, It's Good: Possibly the ur-example.
  • Values Dissonance: Was young Giocante Casabianca incredibly loyal, even heroic, or just Too Dumb to Live? It's been said more than once that Casabazonka is quite an accurate summary of the original.
