• Anti-Climax Boss: Though Dracula demonstrates powers no other vampire in the series has, he's still treated like a bad joke by Spike, and easily defeated.
• Ho Yay: Xander is very complimentary of Dracula after being hypnotised by him. In a bit of a reversal, Dracula in the comics has become obsessed with Xander, to the point where he feels dead without him. The comics also reveal that they began exchanging letters after this episode.
