YMMV / Buffy the Vampire Slayer S2E10 "What's My Line?: Part 2"

Go To

  • Ho Yay: Spike's voice wobbles and he has tears in his eyes while holding a shirtless, sweaty Angel up by his throat and explaining to him that, no, he's not going to kill him out of jealousy as Angel was trying to provoke him to do, but make him "go the hard way" as planned. It almost seems like regrets that he has to, at the last minute. Or maybe like Spike is genuinely hurt that Angel would choose sacrificing himself to spare his "little Rebecca of Sunny Hell Farm" over letting Spike sacrifice him to cure Drusilla.
Spike: Right... You almost got me. Aren't you a 'throw himself to the lions' sort of sap these days?! Well, the lions are onto you, baby. If I kill you now, you go quick, and Dru hasn't got a chance. [...] Too bad Angelus. Looks like you go the hard way, along with the rest of this miserable town. (kisses Drusilla)
  • Narm: As Buffy enters the school, paranoid that anyone could be the assassin, we get a slow-motion shot of a man walking and pulling out what appears to be a weapon but turns out to be a comb. Marti Noxon makes fun of this scene on the DVD Commentary.
  • Strawman Has a Point: Kendra's adherence to the rules and insistence on checking in is played as being a stick-in-the-mud and a less effective Slayer, but it ends up saving Buffy and Angel's lives.
