YMMV / Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • Pig Pen vomiting in Violet's face. It is never explained why he did this or what the purpose of this scene was.
    • Then toward the end, the entire compilation of all the random destructive events happening. They bear no significance or make any sense.
    • The scene of Little Red Haired Girl “appearing” with Charlie Brown in bed smoking a cigarette. When did she come? We were never sure what this scene was about, considering Charlie just murdered everyone a couple seconds earlier.
  • Catharsis Factor: Charlie Brown suffered so much abuse and mistreatment throughout the years that it’s perfectly understandable to jump for joy when he finally stands up for himself here.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: The idea of such a violent cartoon starring the Peanuts gang alone is this trope.
  • Memetic Mutation: This short has been remixed on YouTube many times and discussed by commentary YouTubers due to its controversial nature.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The atmosphere is gritty and dirty. This short deliberately uses pencil and tracing paper to give it this look, which can look unsettling to viewers. All the violence doesn't help either.
  • Values Dissonance: This cartoon features numerous violent murder attempts on a young boy, loads of sexual innuendo, profanity, and a mass shooting of children before ultimately ending with implied sexual relations between two adult-ified kids. This cartoon was also made during school hours and using school resources at a university, and its animator faced no repercussions whatsoever, aside from the creator of the characters simply stating not to do it again. Were a short of the exact same subject matter made today, in the wake of Sandy Hook and other mass shootings at schools, its creator would be damn lucky if the consequences ended at expulsion from the school.
