YMMV / Blue Mountain Mystery

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: Victor didn't speak English when he was arriving to Sodor, and likewise none of the crew knew Spanish, so they didn't understand his cries for help and he fell into the sea. This unintentionally results in the message that it's important to learn other languages; it could save someone's life.
  • Awesome Music: Luke's theme is peaceful yet lonely at the same time.
  • Broken Base: The fanbase has split opinions on the climax, where the narrow-gauge engines assume Thomas spilled Luke's secret and refuse to listen to his attempts to clarify. Some think they're justified because as far as they know, Thomas betrayed their trust; whereas others think they were uncharacteristically harsh towards him, Skarloey and Rheneas in particular.
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: The merchandise, the shape of the engine, and his voice makes it obvious that the yellow engine who fell in the sea was Victor.
  • Moe: Luke. He's so shy and cute.
  • The Woobie:
    • Luke. He didn't mean to kill another engine, and believing he did, he ran off to hide in shame. You just have to feel sorry for him. Fortunately, Luke didn't actually do anything wrong.
    • This goes double for Victor due to his horrifying backstory. Back when he was heading to Sodor with Luke, the chains holding him in place went loose, causing him to slide off the boat and into the sea when Luke was lifted. To make things worse, Victor tried to warn everyone of his loose chains, but nobody on the boat understood him as he yelled it in Spanish, and thus, he ended up partially submerged in the sea and left there for an unspecified but long time until he was thankfully rescued and put to work at the Steamworks.
