YMMV / Blades of Time

Go To

  • Demonic Spiders: The little "stalker" creeps may have low health, but they move much faster than any other unit, and they attack with alarming frequency, leaving little room to even escape once you've been caught in the combo. Then come the invisible ones that can only be revealed with an Order Sphere, or the ones wearing heavy armor...
  • Goddamned Bats: Airborne enemies are easily the most annoying part of the game. The only way to effectively deal with them is to shoot them down while they pelt you with explosives, each hit throwing off your aim, and some of them have deceptively small hitboxes. Worse is when they appear in groups with ground units you also have to fend off, when their shots stagger your combos. To say nothing of the invisible enemies that need the small Order Circle to be seen...
    • Enemies that randomly gain magical shields. Much like the airborne enemies, they can only be dealt with using guns, and their hitboxes are still quite small (you can only shoot the creature itself, while shots pass harmlessly through the much larger shield).
  • Spiritual Successor: Blades of Time is a spiritual successor to 2009's X-Blades from the same company, which also starred a scantily-clad blonde, blue-eyed treasure hunter named Ayumi who is trapped in ruins and must fight hordes of monsters to escape. Compared to X-Blade's 90's anime aesthetic and rock soundtrack, Blades of Time has a much more standard fantasy design and sound, while still retaining Ayumi's core design and attractiveness.
