• Aluminium Christmas Trees:
  • Padania is based on a real-life proposal for northern Italy to become a separate country. The in-game flag even draws from the proposed one.
  • Plans for an actual East African Federation have been floating around since the 1960's, variously delayed or outright shelved due to disagreements. The mod's version of the Federation has proven to be much more successful, becoming a global power and starting off with more member states than the real-life proposal.
  • The Naxalites of India are very much a real movement, albeit one not likely to be widely known outside of India. The Naxalites of 2200 are noted as having ditched most of their ideology in favour of survivalism, though.
  • The "New" Papacy in Avignon has an actual historical precedent, and has similarly gained a reputation for political patronage and traditionalist doctrine. Meanwhile, the "Old" Papacy's emphasis on humanity and solidarity, as well as its decentralized nature, calls to mind Liberation Theology.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite being one of the less likely paths for North America, the United Nations has attracted quite a lot of attention for its unabashed goal of global unification via military conflict.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Mere months after the world map teaser revealed Indonesia as part of the Nusantaran Association, Indonesia announced that its new capital will be named Nusantara.^note 'Nusantara' is a term used in various cultures to describe maritime Southeast Asia or parts of it. It beat out more than 80 shortlisted options for the new capital.
