These are what we call the 'YMMV items.' Things that some people find in this work. We call them 'your mileage might vary' because not everyone sees these things in the same way. This starts discussions in the trope lists, a thing we don't want. Please use the discussion page if you'd like to discuss any of these items.
YMMV: Babettes Feast
Crosses the Line Twice: Babette cuts open a beheaded quail, stuffs it with veggies, then closes the body up and places the head on top like a cherry!
Memetic Badass/Badass Preacher: The late Pastor is shown only in a few flashbacks, mostly silent and stoic, but his parishioners are still talking about his speeches and exploits decades after his death. Even the royal family of Denmark is familiar with his teachings.
He had once promised to preach a Christmas Day sermon across the local bay, but the weather was too severe to cross. Come Christmas morning and the water had frozen allowing him to cross on foot. "Holiest Man in Denmark," indeed.
Values Dissonance: Having wine and turtle soup at a meal! The horror! Well, it does take place in the 19th century.
