• Base-Breaking Character: Run Yu is already the other edge of the protagonist's love triangle, but the TV series also gave him a more sympathetic story arc and a lot more screen time. This helped him gain a much larger fanbase while simultaneously draw a lot more ire from fans of the official couple.
• Friendly Fandoms:
  • With Love and Redemption due to them being in the same genre and having similar plots.
  • There's also considerable overlap with the fandoms of just about every other series Luo Yun Xi has ever acted in.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Luo Yunxi (Run Yu), Chen Yuqi (Liu Ying) and Zou Tingwei (Qi Yuan/Mu Ci) would all go on to appear in And the Winner is Love.
  • Two years before this series Chen Yuqi played Tuoba Di, who is also a princess and whose personality is similar to Liu Ying's, in The Princess Wei Young.
  • Luo Yunxi plays a royal who has an abusive mother and a complicated relationship with his sibling. Now, are we talking about Run Yu or Rong Qi?
  • Chen Yuqi and Kathy Chow (Tu Yao) went on to appear in Heavenly Sword and Dragon-Slaying Sabre.
• Special Effects Failure: Some of the CGI creatures look good. Others are obviously fake.
• Unpopular Popular Character: Run Yu. In the series he's abused and mistreated by his father and stepmother, and overlooked or disliked by many of the other characters. Among the series' fans, however, he's one of the most popular characters. Some even like him better than Xu Feng and Jin Mi.
• The Woobie: Poor, poor Zi Fen. Considering all the misery she suffered, it's no wonder she wanted to make sure her daughter would never fall in love.
