• Fridge Horror: An in-universe example occurs in the third chapter of A Maelstrom of Fate. Midhir Lyonesse goes before King Urabi to plead that El'lepagi be allowed to undergo the trials of knighthood; Urabi agrees, but seems to be enraged by the idea, giving Midhir a chilling death glare the entire time he's speaking. After Ell'epagi is betrayed by his father and handed over to Dekncraath, Midhir realizes that Urabi never truly cared about Ell'epagi, and saw him as nothing more than a pawn; he was infuriated with Midhir for giving his son hope.
