  • Award Snub: The film was completely overlooked by all the major award ceremonies, and wasn’t even nominated in any category, despite the critical acclaim. Heck, both Barry Keoghan and Evan Peters, both of whom were singled out as the highlights, only got a couple of nominations at a couple of award shows and were completely ignored by the rest.
  • Awesome Moments: Even though it's an Imagine Spot, Warren daydreaming the heist is pretty cool, with the main characters pulling it off with expertise and style that would make George Clooney proud.
  • He Really Can Act: Evan Peters was already a good actor as established in both the X-Men Film Series and American Horror Story. Here, his performance has been highlighted as one of his best performances.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Warren. Not only is he the one that initiates the heist planning after Spencer tells him about the special collection but he ends up getting himself and the other three arrested due to having no experience about heists (the only experience that he had was robbing a meat locker and watching crime films) and has no problem tasing an old lady during the heist. Not to mention that he's just a reckless guy in general. That being said though, considering his family life, the fact that he wanted to do something exciting with his life and the implication that he joined the track team just to please his father, who ends up divorcing his mother whom Warren loves, you can’t help but feel bad for him when the entire heist fails.
  • Spiritual Successor: This film splits the difference between Layton's first film The Imposter (2012) (a documentary) and a purely dramatic film. They're both about a real crime, feature talking head interviews from the real people involved, include at least one Unreliable Narrator, and leave lingering questions about what really occurred.
