YMMV / A Passion for Revenge

Go To

  • Actor Shipping: Christian De la Campa and Scarlett Gruber who plays respectively Samuel and Andrea are frequently shipped. Fans called them "Chrislet".
    • Not as the same extent but Kimberly Dos Ramos and Gonzalo Vivanco Garcia as well and dubbed "Kimyzalo".
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Samuel and Andrea in opposite with their respective previous relationships. They are arguably the most popular ship of the show mainly due to their relationship development and their great chemistry. Their fanbase is even larger than those of Arturo/Sofia and Flavio/Irina eclipsing any other ship as well (their previous relationships as well).
  • Idiosyncratic Ship Naming: Sofia and Arturo are called "los Susurradores" (whisperers in spanish)
  • Ho Yay: Sometimes between Dario and Flavio to the confusion of the latter's brothers during a episode.
    • Ulises and Roger too. Often invoked by Patricia because Roger follows Ulises' orders almost anytime.
  • Les Yay:
    • Andrea/Patricia. Mostly due to the fact Patricia often go in her house to see her (generally because of Samuel and Andrea's ambiguous relationship) and insults her. Few minutes later, things become physically agressive.
    • Sofia/Isadora in the same manner as the example above.
  • Love to Hate: Leonardo has this status due to his big Jerkass tendencies and being a Manipulative Bastard but also one of the most interesting characters of the show.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: There is:
    • Flavirina (Flavio/Irina)
    • Samdrea (Samuel/Andrea)
    • Pablonica (Pablo/Veronica)
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Both Andrea and Veronica thanks to their repsective Character Development.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Subverted though many fans tends to say the original (Pasión de gavilanes) is better, they're widely agreed to say A Passion for Revenge (Tierra de Reyes) is the best adaptation released.
  • Values Dissonance: Though rectifying several of the aspects that were present in the original (Pasión de gavilanes) there are still some instances where the dialogue and scenes show a rather outdated way of thinking. For example, the age difference between Alma and Ignacio, while called out, was not changed and is still rather uncomfortable to think that a girl that is just entering her 19 years of age is with a man that could be her father. There are also some disparaging and borderline homophobic comments towards Darío.
