• Alternate Character Interpretation: Does Hanadori actually believe his Chuunibyou fantasy or not?
• Ho Yay: All over the place, to the point where some viewers have mistaken it for a Boys Love series. Hanadori sometimes acts like he’s in love with Koyuki and he was also likely his former bandmate’s boyfriend at one point.
• Never Live It Down: Seri Koyuki merely fell to this early in Episode 1, where he spent the whole summer waiting to go out with his crush, only that didn't happen. It escalates to have Hanadori "go to him", spiraling into a panic, up until "they're at his house. The enraged Koyuki then barges in & unleashes his rage, only to accidentally do that to his awaited crush. The end result: Her leaving in tears, made a permanent scar on a first impression, & him "dying" for the FOURTH time. The middle part especially relies on first-time fans, who even admitted it's too harsh.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Tsukimiya is largely depicted as being a harmless Gadfly who likes teasing Koyuki and pulling pranks on him. However, all of his actions in this regard, such encouraging or maybe even manipulating Hanadori into becoming a Chuunibyou from a young age and effectively dooming him to having no friends until High School, convincing him that Koyuki is his friend from a past life knowing that it cause him untold amounts of trouble, and taking advantage of Koyuki's status as a Weirdness Magnet with a Hair-Trigger Temper to effectively cause him to underperform academically and ruin his love life for his own amusement makes him come off The Bully more than anything, with the fact that he never faces any repercussions for his actions serving to make him come off as more unsympathetic.
