Ultra City Smiths is a 2021 Stop Motion series from Stoopid Buddy Studios, airing on AMC and boasting an impressive All-Star Cast.

In the midst of Ultra City's mayoral election between Kevin de Maximum (Tim Heidecker) and Carpenter K. Smith (Kurtwood Smith), the latter disappears and is later found murdered in a park. Two detectives, David Mills (Jimmi Simpson) and Gail Johnson (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) are put on the case, while dealing with the corruption of Ultra City.

This series contains examples of:

  • Birth-Death Juxtaposition: In one episode Mills attempts to cope with the death of a colleague, while Johnson delivers a woman's baby.
  • Doorstop Baby: The so-called Police Station Baby, who became a local news juggernaut after being abandoned at the station. In the last episode it is revealed that the baby grew up to be Mills.
  • Gang of Hats: Several Ultra City street gangs have themed outfits, like the Baseball Bowies (who carry bats and dress like Ziggy Stardust) and the Nixons (suits and Richard Nixon masks).
  • Once an Episode: A musical number spotlighting a specific character shows up once per episode. Mills gets a spotlight song in episode 1, followed by Donovan in episode 2.
  • That Russian Squat Dance: Donovan does it in the danceclub when Mills and Johnson first encounter him. Mills begins doing it too when Donovan insists he "dance [him] down" for information on the Carpenter Smith case.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Lady Andrea the Giant's onetime fling, and the guy who got her pregnant with Little Grace, was much smaller than her. Even more apparent due to Andrea's gigantism.
  • Wham Line: One written but not spoken: Mills' full name, written down to Trish, indicating that he was the baby she'd abandoned at the police station all those years ago.
