Porky's Spring Planting is a 1938 Looney Tunes cartoon directed by Frank Tashlin and starring Porky Pig. Originally in black and white, it was redone in color in 1967.
It's springtime, and Porky is planting a vegetable garden with the aid of his dog Streamline. Unfortunately, his garden is soon targeted by hungry chickens, who begin devouring his crops. After he fails to chase them off, he resorts to tactics like setting up a scarecrow and siccing Streamline on them. When all else fails, he resorts to making a deal with them.
Tropes:
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Streamline occasionally says quips to the audience.
- Deadpan Snarker: Streamline, when he's breaking the fourth wall.
- Pun: "Sure I'm a watchdog. I'm full of ticks."
- Rearrange the Song: This was the first cartoon to use the 1938-1941 Porky Pig closing music.
- Ventriloquist Animal: Streamline doesn't move his lips when saying lines to the camera.
