Just some of the characters you'll meet in this show.

OOglies is a little Claymation series shown as part of CBBC, the BBC's children's programming block. It's a rapid-fire series of very short skits where objects get Cartoony Eyes, come to life and (usually) get in trouble. Hilarity Ensues. No, really.

First airing in 2009, the original series lasted for two seasons with a "Funsize" series later.

Expect lots of silent comedy/classic cartoon tropes.

Provides Examples of

  • Amusing Injuries: A good chunk of the humour is derived from Ooglies suffering all sorts of mishaps, usually being Squashed Flat.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Nearly every single object with the signature googly eyes are animate and they all move about.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: A lot of Ooglies are edible objects such as fruit.
  • Art Evolution: Compared to the first two series, Funsize updates the eyes to have the eyelids coloured based on the Ooglie that has them. The grapes are larger, making them more expressive as they use the standard-sized eyes for this series.
  • Art Initiates Life: A pencil sneaks out of its case, with the case chasing it, only for the pencil to draw something, have it become real and attack the case.
  • Banana Peel: Slippery Nana is a living version that ends up breaking objects around them.
  • Black Comedy: The "Fruit Bunch and Devious Blender" sketch involves an orange, apple, banana and pear being tricked into checking something out, only for it to be a disguised blender which promptly blends them all into a smoothie.
  • Blue/Orange Contrast: The two toothbrushes in the "Duelling Toothbrushes" sketch - the manual brush is orange and the electric one is blue.
  • Butt-Monkey: The grapes. They often get the brunt of the series abuse in the Cold Open of series 1 just as they are tucking into their fun. Melonhead literally drops in on what they're doing non-maliciously, accidentally crushing the grapes and feeling legitimately sorry for them.
  • Comically Inept Healing: The Cherry-Aiders, a group of doctor cherries always solve "injured" Ooglies' predicaments with plasters, with varying results. Their sole success without this was tending to a runner bean who fainted in the middle of a race, so they put him on a stretcher and carried him over the finish line.
  • Content Warning: Parodied at the beginning of the show:
Attention all humans - the stunts you are about to witness have been performed by trained Ooglies. Under no circumstances should children or silly adults attempt to do any of the actions you see in the programme. No sprouts were hurt during the making of this warning.
  • Demoted to Extra: Several early sketch characters like the Pencil and Pencil Case and Stunt Tomato were reduced to cameos in the later episodes, with the former two only appearing in brief shots during the Measuring Tape sketches while Stunt Tomato was eventually just a transition spacer. Stunt Tomato eventually returns as a regular sketch in "Funsize" with a cellary assistant.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The last "Petrified Pud" sketch involves the titular jelly, who was constantly scared witless by a mischievous pair of chocolate fingers, scaring them back after the former made a safe escape when the latter two tried to scare her.
  • Harsh Talent Show Judge:
  • Hero with an F in Good: Funsize involves some sketches involving Slippery Nana as a superhero, but his slipperiness prevents him from doing much. Even when he manages to rescue those who get bullied, he always ends up accidentally harming them.
  • I'm Melting!: One sketch revolves around an ice cube that always ends up melting due to its desire to be in a warmer climate. Crosses over into They Killed Kenny Again due to its nature as a recurring sketch.
  • Last-Second Photo Failure: A recurring sketch features a living camera who keeps trying to take photos of a bunch of other Ooglies, only for something to go wrong (mainly something connected to the sketches featuring the other Ooglies in question).
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The last "Scary Potato" sketch involves the titular potato scaring a compact foundation case and gets his skin flayed off when the latter screams and shows him his reflection.
  • Pepper Sneeze: One sketch invovles a pepper shaker spraying other Ooglies with pepper, causing them to explosively sneeze.
  • Speaking Simlish: Aside from the odd word, all of the Ooglies speak in grunts and gibberish.
  • Squashed Flat: Happens very often to food Ooglies.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone:
    • The last "Mr Strawberry" sketch has him finally make it over the kitchen gap to be with Miss Strawberry.
    • The last "Tape Measure" sketch involves the pizza cutter cutting the former's tape and getting dragged to where the Tape Measure started. The Tape Measure celebrates as a result.
    • The last Slippery Nana sketch involves the banana stumbling into a girlfriend in a lunchbox, and both go out via the cat flap.
