Mouse for Sale is a 1955 Tom and Jerry cartoon released by Hanna-Barbera.

The short begins with Tom reading the newspaper where he comes across an advertisement for white mice being sold for a huge sum of money. This gives Tom the idea to paint Jerry white and sell him at the pet store. Shortly after he returns, though, his owner finds the money and uses it to buy Jerry from the pet store. With Jerry now acting like a dancing mouse, Tom does everything he can to reveal Jerry's true colors, but Jerry always finds a way to become white again.

Tropes appearing in this cartoon:

  • Freak Out: Tom does one of these when he finds out that his owner has taken the money that he got for selling Jerry at the pet store.
  • Eye Pop: When Tom has Jerry trapped inside a closet, Tom opens the door to show the owner that Jerry is a brown mouse, only to find out that Jerry has managed to become white again due to a bottle of shoe polish being inside the closet. His eyes then pop out of his head and roll down his arm.
  • Loud Gulp: When Tom, who has painted himself white so that he is allowed back in the house, has Jerry in his clutches, the mouse lets out one of these as Tom gives him a very wicked smile.
  • Oh, Crap!: Tom, when his owner tells him that she has brought a cute little white mouse from the pet store.
  • Team Rocket Wins: One of only about a dozen cartoons where Tom wins.
