"Bosko's Mechanical Man" is a 1933 Looney Tunes animated cartoon starring Bosko, the Talk-Ink Kid and made by Hugh Harman

Bosko creates a robot in order to avoid having to help his girlfriend Honey wash the dishes. However, the robot quickly turns against the two and causes havoc for them.


This cartoon contains examples of:

  • Exact Words: Bosko repeatedly tells Honey at the start that he's not going to be washing dishes. After a fade out, we see Bosko drying the dishes and Honey washing them.
  • Gilligan Cut: At the start, Honey welcomes Bosko into her home, telling him that he's in time to wash the dishes. Bosko refuses, saying "Not me! Not me!" as we Fade Out. We then Fade In to Bosko angrily drying the dishes and Honey washing them.
  • Laborious Laziness: In order to avoid having to do the dishes, Bosko creates a robot to do them for him.
  • Metaphoric Metamorphosis: After accidentally breaking Honey's plates, Bosko briefly turns into a sheep and even baas. For an extra punch, the music cue that plays is "Mary Had a Little Lamb".
  • Robot Buddy: The robot Bosko builds to do his house chores was supposed to be this, but it goes haywire instead.
  • Standard Snippet:
    • "One Step Ahead of My Shadow" plays while Honey washes her windows and while Bosko's robot breaks down several of Honey's doors.
    • Honey sings "Ain't We Got Fun" while she and Bosko do the dishes.
    • Honey temporary stops the robot's rampage by putting in a record player which plays "Mary Had a Little Lamb".
  • That Syncing Feeling: In order to stop the robot from attacking Bosko, Honey places a record playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" which causes the robot to start singing the song. The record starts skipping near the end of the first verse, resulting in the robot's rampage continuing.
