----
* ArmiesAreEvil: How the Free Marketeers (especially the main cast) views the Dhuvalian army, YourNormalIsOurTaboo below.
* BladeOnAStick: The standard-issued weapon of the Dhuvalian infantry is a spear with a gun attached to. Although it looks more like an elongated crowbar.
** The seemingly impractical design of the spear-gun is noted in universe. Dhuvalian infantry are not used against other infantry, but to support Dhuvalian LIMBs and vehicles, by using their spear to pry out disabled LIMB joints, or to open hatches and clear out the crew.
* BriefcaseFullOfMoney: Henry Macon's briefcase full of stock certificates counts.
* ChameleonCamouflage: [[spoiler: Dhuvalian [=LIMBs=]]]
* CorporateWarfare
* DarkSkinnedBlond: The Dhuvalians, although this trait is limited to the Dhuvalian royalties.
* FatGirl: Betsy-Ray, maybe Jackie?
* HiredGuns: The main characters are members of a mercenary company.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Vulture]]
* LeeroyJenkins: Dizzee Jenkins has a tendency to lose [=LIMBs=] due to his recklessness, in the chapter 3 battle he apparently lost two. [[http://www.mylifeatwar.com/?p=440 It catches up to him.]]
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Terrence "Vulture" Uzzard
* MegaCorp: Mega-Fun-Foods. It's practically in their name.
* MildlyMilitary: Free Market private military companies. Justified that they're not regular army, and even the "soldiers" of the PMCs are treated more like employees, with them treating each other as co-workers.
* MiniMecha: The LIMBS are too small to be called Humongous Mecha and far too big to be called power armor.
* MoreDakka: The "Chainsmoker", four barreled machine gun available as one of the many possible attachment to the LIMB's chest coaxial mount.
* NeverLearnedToRead: Vulture, meant he couldn't tell what was in the employee handbook [[spoiler: and it was too difficult to find his next of kin.]]
* OralFixation: Vulture usually had a piece of straw in his mouth. While going through his stuff after he died the rest of the team found a box of pre-cut "max relax" hayseeds.
* PoweredArmor: The Bulls.
** Mind you, literally powered. With a cable. From a truck.
* PretextForWar: A Dhuvalian noble sold one of his land to Mega-Fun-Foods some times ago. Then at some point said noble loose his holdings and must returns all his properties to the Dhuvalian state. Mega-Fun-Foods refuse to return the land because it's their private property now. Unfortunately the Dhuvalians refuses the idea of free market ownership, so they see it as an act of aggression and moves their army to retake the land. Mega-Fun-Foods hires several PMC groups to defend their assets. It sort of escalates from that point.
* PrivatelyOwnedSociety: The Free Market.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: The 1st Investment Recovery Battalion are just that.
* RobbingTheDead: Mercenary companies have [[http://www.mylifeatwar.com/?p=333 specialists]] for that job.
* ShowWithinAShow: Vulture was inspired to become a LIMB pilot by a show following a fictional mercenary called The Southpaw.
** It isn't fictional! It's Based. Awn. Uh. True. Story.
* SpaceRomans: The [[PrivatelyOwnedSociety Free Marketeers]] have distinctly southern/Texan feeling to them, from the way people talk to the cowboy hats.
** On the contrary, the Dhuvalians have something of a quasi-18th century French culture and aesthetic, mixed with African martial culture.
** The Dhuvalians have a distinctly French feel to them, despite the comic taking place in an original world.
* SpeechBubbles: The comic seems to use differently shaped speech bubbles to indicate accents. Round for Free Market and boxy for Dhuvalian.
* YourNormalIsOurTaboo: At some point Dizzee talks about how the Dhuvalians are a bunch of sadist for fighting in the name of something like their country, instead of something more apparent like wealth.
** Of course, the Dhuvalians views the Free Marketeers as murderous bastards who kill people for short-sighted reason like wealth, instead of something more honorable like their country.
* WarForFunAndProfit: Averted, The 1st Investment Recovery Battalion and the other two PMC companies Mega-Fun-Foods hired are taking heavy losses that their client has needed to subsidize. Macon says it himself:
-->''[[http://www.mylifeatwar.com/?p=532 "Ugh, war. How's a man supposed to turn a profit doing this?"]]''
** As the story progress, it is pointed out in universe that there is simple no way a corporation with PMCs can win against a nation state with a regular army. Due to the inherent numerical, organizational, and resource superiority a nation can have, while a corporation is bounded by their purpose of generating income. A nation can afford a lengthy and destructive war, while a corporation can't.
