Ms. Marvel: Bottled Up is a 2022 one-shot webcomic from the Infinity Comics imprint of Marvel Comics. It's written by Samira Ahmed with art by Ramón F. Bachs and color art by Dee Cunnliffe.
Set in the shared Marvel Universe, it stars the titular superhero Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan). When Kamala and her friend Nakia visit a local museum, they find a trapped Jinn has accidentally been released from his prison. And after a thousand years of confinement, he's not feeling very friendly...
The webcomic was released on May 31, 2022.
Ms. Marvel: Bottled Up contains examples of the following tropes:
- Attack Reflector: Ms. Marvel uses one of the museum's ancient shields to block and reflect Mariikh's fireballs. He points out that he's immune to his own flames, though.
- I'm Melting!: After Ms. Marvel turns a fire extinguisher on Mariikh, he melts into a small puddle of purple goo, which she scoops back into his cryptex. He's still conscious and loudly complaining when he's reduced to goo.
- Infinite Canvas: As with Marvel's other Infinity Comics, it’s presented in the vertical scrolling variant. Each issue is a single long page, with one column of panels.
- Our Genies Are Different: Mariikh the Destroyer describes himself as "no mere Jinn", but is fairly close to the original Islamic tales. He's a short-tempered, boastful creature of fire, apparently capable of Demonic Possession, and has been trapped in his cryptex for a thousand years.
- Playing with Fire: Mariikh is a Jinn with command over flames. He's wreathed in fire and able to create and throw fireballs, as well as blasts of fire from his hands.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Mariikh says he's spent a thousand years trapped in his cryptex. As Kamala points out, whoever trapped him in it probably had good reason, as shown by his murderous, destructive nature. He's trapped in it again by the end of the story.
