Go To

In The Woods Somewhere is an ongoing webcomic found on the webcomic sites Tapas and Webtoon. It's a surreal horror / slice of life comic about teen boy with Narcolepsy, and the strange and sinister events of his life in the weeks leading up to a spring storm.

As he tries to keep up with school, his friends, and manage his sleep-disorder, he meets a mysterious stranger who hides from the rain under his balcony at night. They strike up an unusual friendship. There is also an arsonist in town.

In The Woods Somewhere contains examples of:

  • Best Friend: Andrew and Annie - so much so that they have a joint nickname, "Anndrie" - given to them by Dan and Jerry, who are also best friends.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Brianna and their sibling. Brianna is responsible, their sibling is younger and a bit foolish, in a tween kind of way.
  • I See Them, Too: David keeps asking leading questions about what Andrew sees when he dreams.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Andrew has been seeing strange creatures, "monsters" out of the corners of his eyes, and looming over him when he sleeps. However he also suffers from hyper-realistic dreams and daytime hallucinations, so it's unclear if they are real, or just nightmares.
  • Pyromaniac: There is rumor of an arsonist in town, based on the evidence of a recent series of successive fires: an abandoned warehouse, a car in a junkyard, and some trees.
  • Sleepyhead: The main character, Andrew, suffers from Narcolepsy with Cataplexy
  • Slice of Life:
  • Surreal Horror:
  • Unreliable Narrator: Andrew has a disorder which causes waking dreams, and he frequently has realistic dreams and nightmares which are easy to confuse with real life, even in simply mundane ways.
  • Waking Up Elsewhere: Can happen to Andrew occasionally. Often due to his sleepwalking he will wake up in a new location.
  • Wild Teen Party: While a "teen party", Dan's house parties are not particularly wild. They are sanctioned by his parents, pretty well organized, and of a medium scale. However, things can sometimes spiral slightly out of control, just due to the relatively chaotic nature of teenagers.
