Nora Universe is the daughter of former musician Greg Universe and the alien Blue Diamond. It's on her 23rd birthday when a group calling themselves the Crystal Gems barge into her life and try to abduct her, believing her to be Blue Diamond.

Blue Au-niverse is a fan-made Steven Universe webcomic made by Dio.

It can be read on Tumblr here and Tapas Media here.

Blue Au-niverse provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Personality Change: In canon, Blue Pearl is presented as meek and withdrawn. Here, she's bubbly and excitable.
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon, the Crystal Gems lost the war and Rose, Garnet and Pearl were the only survivors, the only gem tech they have they had scavenged. Not only did this version win the war, but they have established their own presence in the galaxy and are still capable of space travel.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Played with. Both Steven and Nora have eyes for Connie, making both attracted to women. However, Nora's a lesbian, contrasting her main universe counterpart, who's more Camp Straight.
  • Age Lift: The plot begins around Nora's 23rd birthday and is set while the main human cast is well into adulthood. This is in contrast to Steven Universe, where the plot began when the main human cast was in their early teens and ended during their late teens.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Blue Pearl states that the Crystal Gems shattered all the Diamonds except for Blue Diamond. However, according to Rose Quartz, they need Blue Diamond alive because she's the final key they need to reverse Gem corruption. This implies that the other Diamonds weren't shattered and were instead sealed away, but no answer is given yet.
  • Bait-and-Switch: In Chapter 10, we find Blue Diamond and her Pearl waiting at Ocean Town's beach for something to hatch. In previous chapters, the Crystal Gems are concerned that Blue intends on creating a gem army to reignite the war. Instead, we find out that they are simply there to watch baby turtles hatch.
  • Battle Couple: Carnelian implies that Jasper and Spinel have become this, given how she's a permafusion of the two and that the stability displayed by her fusion rivals Garnet's. Word of God on Tumblr even calls Carnelian "the murder wives perma-fusion".
  • Blunt "Yes": Nice Lapis is unable to use the galaxy warp to get the humans out of the temple so instead orders them all to jump on her back.
Peedee: Your plan can't seriously be to carry us out of here!
    Nice Lapis: It is.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: It's quite clear that Nora's smitten with Connie from the moment they meet, but her lack of social skills and shy demeanor keep her from vocalizing her crush.
  • Draw Aggro: Pearl and Rose realise too late that Carnelian was actually there to draw their forces away from the temple to allow Nice Lapis to get inside and withdraw Peedee, Connie and Ronaldo.
  • Establishing Character Moment: We get our first look at this version of Blue Diamond in Chapter 10. We're introduced to her and Blue Pearl visiting the beach to witness baby turtles hatching, only to rush in and save Greg from a corrupted gem. This tells you that this isn't the waifish, self-centered Blue Diamond presented to us in canon.
  • Fairy Companion: Ambers are a small, moth-like gem designed by Pink Diamond to help off-color gems socialize. Blue Pearl gives Nora one for her 23rd birthday to help her socialize with other people.
  • Friendless Background: Unlike her canon-counterpart, Nora is not a Magnetic Hero and has trouble socializing with people. This leads to Blue Pearl giving her an Amber (a gem-type made to help "overcooked" gems acclimate) as a birthday gift.
  • Gender Flip: Steven, who's male in canon, is reimagined as the female Nora in this comic.
  • Good Is Not Soft: While their intentions are still noble, the Crystal Gems have made it a priority to show no mercy to any Diamond they find and capture them. This has pragmatic reasons, as because Diamonds are able to create gems, leaving them to their own devices can lead to another Gem War. Subverted in the cases of association, as when Amethyst kidnaps Connie, Peedee and Ronaldo under suspicions of being associated with Nora, everyone else scolds her for doing so.
  • Hero Antagonist: Rose Quartz is still the same leader of the resistance that saved the earth, prevented the extinction of the human race and overthrew the tyrannical diamonds. Unfortunately, this means she serves as antagonist to Nora, mistaking her for Blue Diamond in disguise.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: After learning that Blue Diamond no longer exists, Spinel runs back to Jasper shouting "Cetus lapetus!"
  • Like Mother, Unlike Daughter: In stark contrast to her mother (or the other Diamonds besides Pink for that matter), Nora has no problems with Cross-Gem fusion. Episode 64 has her explain this to Spinel and Jasper, letting them know that they don't have to stay separate on her account because she isn't her mother.
  • Mistaken for Undead: Blue Diamond's presence in Ocean Town developed an urban legend of her being a ghostly being who died in tragedy.
  • Permafusion: Besides the canonical example of Garnet, Chapter 11 also introduces Carnelian, the fusion of Jasper and Spinel. Her fusion seems just as stable as Garnet's, given that she lacks the extra features other fusions have and could easily be mistaken for a regular, if extremely powerful, Gem if it weren't for the two visible gems on her body. However, Jasper and Spinel do diffuse when meeting Nora for the first time, due to them thinking she's Blue Diamond, whom they believe would shatter them if she saw them fused.
  • Power Glows: Rainbow Quartz glows bright pink while fighting Carnelian at super speed.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Blue Pearl has a bad habit of phrasing certain things in a way that come across as an insult by accident.
Nora: Aw, guys, you didn't have to get me anything!
Blue Pearl: Of course we got you something, if we didn't no one would celebrate it.
Greg: Pearl, there HAD to be a better way to phrase that...
