Achluophobia FOTD contains examples of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: Auer is missing his left leg, as seen in the cover art for ACT 1.
  • Apocalypse Not: Achluo and the world as a whole seemed to have rebuilt from a nuclear war pretty fine. It only took 3000+ years.
  • Big "YES!": Imanann and Sygal after winning their Arena match against Cyanogen in Episode 1.
  • Commonality Connection: Auer, Sygal, and Imanann all share a deep interest to become Vigilantes.
  • Dual Wielding: Sygal's weapons consist of two Vanadite chokuto swords.
  • Hive City: Quintopia is a vastly layered city, with 24 layers as a whole.
  • I Will Find You: Auer is desperately searching for the elucid Praseodymium.
  • Tagalong Kid: Whinter. Wait... how did she get into university?
  • Tears of Joy: Auer after witnessing Sygal and Imanann's battle in Episode 1.
  • Trigger Phrase: Just looking at the chemical symbol for Praseodymium is enough to send Auer into a panic attack.

  • Phantom Limb Pain: Auer struggles with Phantom Limb pain, and regular ol' chronic pain.
  • Prosthetic Limb Reveal: Auer reveals his prosthetic left leg after doubting his ability to attain a hero license.
  • Variable-Length Chain: The chains that connect Sygal's swords are seemingly infinite.
  • Career-Ending Injury: It is actually law that businesses can't hire you if you have a disability.
  • Dream-Crushing Handicap: In Chapter 1, Auer doubts going into hero work because of his handicap.
  • Awesome Aussie: Imanann is from Dagon, which is based off of Australia. Whinter points out that he has an accent, thus telling the audience he's had one the whole time. He was also, toughened up by the outdoors.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: In Chapter 2, Sygal states bluntly that her parents are dead.
  • Shout-Out: Chell from the Portal series is seen in the background of the Prologue.
  • Death Wail: Seen in Genevieve's flashback in Chapter 2, when Atlas, Auer's younger brother, dies.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Genevieve becomes an alcoholic after witnesses the tragedy that happened to Auer.
  • Troubled Child: Auer. He's barely 17 and he's lost a limb, his mother and his brother? He needs a break.
  • Liminal Being: That monster seen at the end of Chapter 1? So common!
