Babblebrook is a fantasy ASMR series by Youtube user Goodnight Moon, which began in 2017. The series begins in the titular town of Babblebrook, which is populated with several unique and charming characters. All is not well however, as the viewer's character is quickly roped in to a scheme to depose a despotic queen, who is using dangerously powerful magic for her own gain...
Babblebrook provides examples of:
- Ambiguously Human: The queen's handmaidens have pointed ears, hinting at a possible elven origin.
- Fake Interactivity: The videos take the form of one-sided conversations, where it's assumed that the viewer's character is responding.
- Our Dragons Are Different: Dragons in this series appear to have been domesticated by humanity, and have been selectively bred for different jobs, much like dogs were. For example, the Willow Witch offers us the egg of a Hackleberry dragon, and notes that Hackleberries are good at guarding both homes, and herds of livestock (similar to livestock guardian dog breeds like the Maremma Sheepdog or the Great Pyrenees).
- Our Witches Are Different: In this series, witches are extremely long-lived, with lifespans of centuries. Their standing in the community partly appears to depend on the kind of magic they specialise in. In addition, all witches are likely being threatened by the new laws the Queen is seeking to bring in.
