''Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls'' is a Website/YouTube-hosted {{Fanime}} series, which has gained a certain amount of infamy in some circles ''just for existing''. The show chronicles the lives of CatGirl Raku-chan, her best friend Koneko-chan, and the object of her desire, the [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair blue-haired]] Hitoshi-san. Animated in UsefulNotes/MSPaint and [[WordOfGod supposedly voice acted by Japanese forum members]], it's a confusing mishmash of JapaneseMediaTropes and GratuitousJapanese. Most episodes are but a few minutes long (including the theme songs), leaving little room for {{Plot}} or CharacterDevelopment.

By around the third episode (and earlier, if you check the tags in the first video) it becomes apparent that ''Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls'' is probably a StealthParody of Western {{Otaku}} culture, and many viewers consider the creators to be [[{{Troll}} Trolls]] of [[Fanfic/MyImmortal Tara Gilesbie]] proportions. However, the creators do have a trove of concept art and character designs that implies that this was a sincere project at some point in its inception.

You can watch the entire series on [[http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEA4FA04230851E59 this playlist]], and several episodes have also been uploaded to Website/NicoNicoDouga for added {{MST}}ing fun. If you don't feel like you can face it alone, there is a ''"Let's Watch!"'' of the series [[http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8B829A467FDCC8E6 here]]. The creator has a Website/DeviantArt [[http://nyanyandesu.deviantart.com/ here.]]

Compare and contrast to ''WebAnimation/TsukiDesu'', ''Webcomic/LargeBagel'', ''WebAnimation/AcedemySugoiSeiun'', and ''WebAnimation/TokyoCrystalMew''.

!!Tropes that ''Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls'' provides an example of:
* TheAbridgedSeries: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPkHS9OCwnQ Here]], though the abridgers admit there really isn't anything to abridge, so just [[{{Redubbing}} redub]] it instead.
* AllThereInTheManual: Until Episode 10, Hitoshi's would-be rapist goes by Kidnapper-kun, if the youtube tags are to be taken seriously.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Hitoshi-san (possibly Ambiguously Bi). He flirts openly with both Raku-chan and Koneko-chan, yet fantasizes about his kidnapper.
* AmusingInjuries:
** Raku-chan getting bit by a squirrel .
** Additionally, Raku-chan falling flat on her face in episode 6.
* {{Angrish}}: Raku-chan, when she is bitten by the squirrel.
* AnimationBump: The animation and art for the scene in the park features decent shading, smooth(er) animation and a sharp decline in off model moments.
* {{Animesque}}: Very much so. Also notable for using many, many JapaneseMediaTropes and UsefulNotes/JapaneseHonorifics to go along with it.
* AnimeThemeSong: The intro theme is the bubbly JPop variety, being ripped straight from ''VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolution''.
** Bonus for the randomly sampled [[StudioAudience applause]] and [[LemonyNarrator narrations]]. "'''[[{{Mondegreen}} YOU'RE NOT AN ORDINARY FELLA]]'''"
* ArtEvolution: It's hard to tell due to the constant OffModel nature of everything, but the art has changed in the time from the first episode to episode 9.
** In episode 10 the art and animation is slightly better by the show's standards.
* ArtShift: The intro theme uses the older Website/DeviantArt concept art of the characters when giving their names. They actually look decent, compared to how they look animated.
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: The squirrel that bites Raku-chan has fangs like a vampire.
* AsideGlance: All the characters do this in the finale after Kidnapper-kun's real name is revealed
-->'''Koneko-chan''': Oh! I thought his name was Geoff!
-->''(Record scratch)''
-->''(Everyone looks at the camera unamused)''
%%* AttemptedRape: Hitoshi-san in the 2nd and 3rd episodes.
%%* BeachEpisode: Episode 8.
* BigDamnHeroes: Raku-chan and Koneko-chan saving Hitoshi-san from the kidnapper.
* BigNo: "NOOOOOOOOO! Don't take me away to your secret place."
%%* BishieSparkle: Hitoshi-san.
%%* {{Bishonen}} and [[BishoujoGenre Bishoujo]]: The main characters, [[InformedAttractiveness supposedly]].
%%** It's easier to accept if you consider the character art in the opening.
* BlatantLies: The characters and the creators insist that they are ''actually Japanese''.
%%* BlindingBangs: Hitoshi-san's assailant.
* BlushSticker: Used liberally.
* BodyHorror: The constant OffModel nature of everything [[InvokedTrope invokes]] this.
* BookEnds: After the first episode, every episode starts with someone waking up, and most end with someone going to bed.
* BreakTheCutie: The series seems to be doing this to Raku-chan. Her love interest is falling for someone else, and now it turns out she [[spoiler:has rabies]].
* BreakingTheFourthWall: In the opening credits, when the song speeds up, the intro comments "Oh, that's too fast", a shout out to its DDR origins.
* BreastExpansion: Raku-chan's ever-changing breast size.
** Vet-sama, too.
%%* CampGay: Hitoshi-san's kidnapper.
* CaptainObvious: Episode 5's first line of dialog: "Oh, my phone is ringing nyan, desu!"
* CatchPhrase: Hitoshi-san's "nya... ''rowr''" seems to be one.
* CatGirl: Raku-chan and Koneko-chan are the eponymous "Neko Sugar Girls", though they're never referred to as such, and the fact that they're catgirls is never actually mentioned until [[spoiler:Raku-chan turns into a cat]].
* CerebusSyndrome: At first the show begins as some sort of RomanticComedy style anime, but starting with the fourth episode it soon becomes dark once [[spoiler:Raku-chan becomes infected with rabies. With no SnapBack or [[StatusQuoIsGod Status Quo]] to rely on, Raku-chan soon becomes weaker, before eventually running away due to feeling like a burden to her friends. Eventually, after what appears to be a message from some sort of divine entity, Raku-chan transforms into a full cat. Eventually she is returned to her former self, however it appears she is still suffering from the effects of the rabies. Meanwhile, Hitoshi-san begins to see his captor [[StockholmSyndrome everywhere]]. Episode 9 reveals that Raku-chan had a [[GratuitousJapanese bakeneko]] (or neko demon) inside of her, though it was taken out of her by Vet-sama.]] Of course to the audience, most of this [[{{Narm}} will be]] [[NarmCharm hilarious]].
* CheekyMouth: Hitoshi-san in the opening. He also sort of has a regular mouth. It's a little creepy.
* ChristmasEpisode: Or, rather, a "Kurisumasu" Episode.
* CharacterSong: Histoshi's is apparently [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBD_4UnVMs4&feature=g-u-u&context=G27c21d0FUAAAAAAAAAA Hips Don't Lie.]]
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Many of the episodes end this way.
* ContinuityNod: In episode 4 [[PantyShot Raku is wearing]] the white underwear she bought in episode 2.
** And in episode 5, [[PantyShot Koneko]] is wearing the pink underwear from episode 2.
* {{Corpsing}}: Hitoshi several times in his rendition of ''[[CharacterSong Hips Don't Lie]]''.
* DeathByDespair: [[spoiler: Raku-chan dies of a broken kokoro in the finale]]
* DeliberatelyMonochrome: Used in episode 7 to flashback to the Squirrel Biting incident.
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: In episode 9, it is revealed that rather than actually having rabies, Raku-chan is has instead been possessed by a bakeneko]]
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment:
** Episode 5.
-->'''Hitoshi-san''': [[spoiler:Don't worry Raku-chan, you're not alone and you'll never be alone. We're always here for you.]]
** And now Episode 9.
-->'''Hitoshi-san''': [[spoiler:I'm sorry Koneko-chan. I just wanted something to take my mind off of Raku-chan's pain. Her pain... It pains me to think about that pain.]]
* DracoInLeatherPants: InUniverse example. Hitoshi-san begins fantasizing about his kidnapper after the attack. Bonus points in that he is wearing leather pants in the daydreams.
* DullSurprise:
** Koneko-chan isn't the most emotive of characters.
** Hitoshi-san has a really blatant one in episode 6.
* DumbBlonde / TheDitz: Raku-chan, when she isn't acting like a [[ManChild child]].
* EroticEating: The nurse/Vet-sama with the sucker in episode 5.
* EyePop:
** Hitoshi-san in the credits.
** Happens in episode 9 to Hitoshi (again), though it's less exaggerated.
* FanDisservice: {{Panty Shot}}s and Gainaxing.
** Not to mention Hitoshi-san fantasizing about his attacker in episode four, picturing him with no shirt, leather pants, and a visible bulge.
** Hitoshi in pink swimtrunks from episode 6 definitely counts.
*** Ditto his pink mankini in the extra deleted episode released after the original series ended.
** Episode 8. Raku-chan's bikini. ''Good lord''.
*** Not to mention Hitoshi losing his swimtrunks and the audience getting a good view of his rear...
* FlatCharacter: Everyone, although Koneko-chan has the worst of it. At least Raku-chan has her [[BuffySpeak whininess]] and Hitoshi-san seems like a smug JerkAss (even if it's unintentional).
* {{Foreshadowing}}: [[HoYay Hitoshi-san's repeated daydreams]] about his kidnapper indicate that he may choose the kidnapper over Raku-chan, creating {{Drama}}.
* {{Flashback}}: Used in episode 7 after [[spoiler:Raku is changed into a full cat]], recalling the squirrel bite of episode 4.
-->'''Koneko-chan''': "Do you think it might have been the [[spoiler:rabies]]?"
* FreezeFrameBonus: In episode 10, pause around the 12:24 mark and you'll see [[spoiler:everyone going bald and the lower half of the girls' clothes are missing]]!
* FurryConfusion: When Raku-chan goes to the vet in episode five, there are a cat and a dog on a chair next to her.
* {{Gainaxing}}: Yes. Notable in that the animators are two girls.
* GagBoobs: Raku-chan's. Combining the OffModel nature of everything with constant {{Gainaxing}} is absolutely hilarious.
** Vet-sama too, particularly in episode 9.
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler: Raku-chan.]]
* GratuitousJapanese: Emphasis on "gratuitous".
** The "Kawaii Underwear-chan Store" that the girls visit in one of the earlier episodes is a good example of this.
* GratuitousSpanish: Surprisingly, in episode 7...
--> '''Koneko-chan''': Hitoshi-san! Vente aqui!
** ...and in Episode 8:
--> '''Koneko-chan''': You can just sit in this mochila for awhile.
** In episode three when Hitoshi thanks Raku for saving him from the kidnapper, she says 'de nada.'
** Koneko-chan says "pinche cabron" in the finale, which is a pretty vulgar term while loosely translated to "asshole".
* HalloweenCosplay: In the [[ChristmasSpecial Kurisumasu Supesharu]], Squeaker-chan is [[{{Cosplay}} Cosplaying]] [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Miku Hatsune]].
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Koneko-chan and Raku-chan.
* HongKongDub
* HypocriticalHumor: Quoth a comment on Episode Nine:
-->"I need complete silence." *[[MostAnnoyingSound commences ear rape]]*
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Apparently Hitoshi-san's thoughts on his attempted kidnapper, post-kidnapping.
* IllGirl: As of Episode 5, [[spoiler:Raku-chan has contracted rabies]].
* ImagineSpot: Hitoshi has one in the fourth episode, of his [[AttemptedRape attempted rapist]] in [[DracoInLeatherPants leather pants]] with a clear, [[FanDisservice large bulge]], while *Music/{{NSYNC}}'s "I Want You Back" plays in the background.
** He has another in the fifth, still about his kidnapper.
* ImpairmentShot: Raku-chan in episode 6.
* IRememberItLikeItWasYesterday: Used in episode 5.
* LampshadedDoubleEntendre: Hitoshi-san's assailant from episode 2:
-->"Oh calm down, hun. I'm just going to take you to my [[SupervillainLair Secret Lair]] and we're going to have some... fun, if you know what I mean."
* LargeHam: Hitoshi-san. He constantly sounds like a SmugSnake, despite that type of voice sounding inappropriate for a [[GratuitousJapanese sugoi]] {{Bishonen}} like he supposedly is.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: The finale introduced ''four'' characters, Raku-chan's college buddies, who pop up to see her after reading she's sick on Facebook.
%%* LimitedWardrobe
* LoveConfession: [[spoiler: Raku-chan decides to confess her feelings to Hitoshi-san in the finale. [[DeathByDespair It does not end well]]]]
* LuminescentBlush: Also used liberally.
* {{Miko}}: [[spoiler: Vet-sama]] turns out to be one.
%%* MindScrew: The whole series could count.
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: Raku-chan in the fourth episode, upon being bitten by a squirrel. She screams for 40 seconds.
* MaleGaze: When Raku-chan and Hitoshi-san first meet, it looks like Hitoshi-san is looking down at her breasts.
* MarshmallowHell: Raku-chan to her squirrel friend in episode 4. Also what prompts it to bite her.
* MomentKiller: In episode 5 Raku seems about to tell Hitoshi her feelings, but then Koneko interrupts with [[TrademarkFavoriteFood Mochi Icecream and Green Tea.]]
* {{MST}}: The ''[[http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8B829A467FDCC8E6 Let's Watch!]]'' series by [[http://www.youtube.com/user/Iotametroid Failsafe Productions]].
* NaughtyNurseOutfit: Vet-sama.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: [[spoiler: Vet-sama being a Miko comes completely out of left field, and conveniently allows her to help cure Raku-chan]].
* NoNameGiven: The kidnapper (until the final episode), so the {{MST}} series decided to call him Geoff.
-->'''Raku-chan''': I hope you and...?
-->'''Hitoshi-san''': Oh, his name is Bokutachi-san.
-->'''Koneko-chan''': Oh, I thought his name was Geoff.
-->'''All''': [Record skip sound as they stare at the camera]
-->'''Bokutachi-san''': Where'd you get Geoff from?
* NoseBleed: Raku-chan's reaction upon meeting Hitoshi-san.
* NotIfTheyEnjoyedItRationalization: Apparently.
* OcularGushers: Whenever Raku-chan cries.
* OffModel: '''DAMN.'''
** The worst parts are when Koneko-chan's tail starts to look like a certain male body part.
** Raku-chan's constantly growing and shrinking breasts are pretty bad. At least Koneko-chan's are more consistent.
** [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Nekosugargirlsoffmodel_9535.jpg This is a particularly good example.]]

** You haven't seen [[http://i49.tinypic.com/33kygsm.png anything.]]
** [[http://i50.tinypic.com/206zyn4.png Just no.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: Raku-chan seems like a teenager, probably one who's recently moved out considering she rooms with Koneko-chan, but the finale shows she's a college graduate.
* OneWomanWail: The [[spoiler: "spell"]] Vet-sama performs. ''[[CrowningMomentOfFunny And it is hilarious.]]''
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: The voice actors try to use these weird, faux Japanese accents. And fail at them.
* OverlyLongGag: Raku-chan being bitten by the squirrel in the fourth episode.
* PantyShot: Used throughout the episodes and in the picture for the ending credits.
%%* PettingZooPeople: Raku-chan and Koneko-chan.

%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Hitoshi-san is a counter-example.
* SensoryAbuse: '''Raku-chan's voice.''' [[https://youtu.be/N1WYBaiWOHA Most notably in this scene. Listen at your own risk.]]
* SeriesContinuityError: In episode 5, Raku-chan is clearly wearing just a bra when she begins talking to Koneko-chan on the phone, but after the shot switches to Koneko-chan, she is immediately in her blue shirt.
* ShoppingMontage: "Oh you have such kawaii underwear, nyan!"
* ShoutOut: Both ''Film/{{Clerks}}'' and ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' seems to get an inexplicable one in Episode 3.
** In Episode 6:
-->'''Koneko-chan''': [[spoiler:She (Raku-chan)]] is gone. Film/GoneWithTheWind.
** [[WesternAnimation/KappaMikey Dancing sushi?]]
** Hitoshi outright mentions ''Series/TheNanny'', of all things, in Episode 9.
* ShrinkingViolet: Raku-chan is so terribly shy that when she first meets Hitoshi-san she gets a brain aneurysm that results in a massive fountain of blood gushing from her nose.
* SlasherSmile: Hitoshi-san's kidnapper in episode 3.
* SlipperySwimsuit: Hitoshi-san loses his pink swim trunks in [[BeachEpisode Episode 8]].
* SexySantaDress: Raku wears one in the Kurisumasu Supesharu. And so does [[MsFanservice Vet-sama]]. [[StripperIffic Of course, Vet-sama's outfit might not count as clothes.]]
%%* SliceOfLife: Supposedly.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Hitoshi-san apparently, considering a random guy is willing to break into his house in broad daylight to try and kidnap him for some fun.
* SoapOperaDisease: [[spoiler:Raku-chan gets rabies from her squirrel bite.]]
* [[spoiler: SorryImGay: Hitoshi to Raku-chan in Episode 10.]]
* StealthParody: All but confirmed in Episode 9.
* StealthPun: "Raku"-chan has rather large breasts. Pronounce it how the voice actors do, but without the "u"...
* StockholmSyndrome: Hitoshi seems to have become enamored with his would-be kidnapper...
* TheStoic: Koneko-chan.
** NotSoStoic: After the [[spoiler:DownerEnding with Raku-chan's death]] Koneko-chan sings the EndingTheme (Last Christmas (I Gave You My Heart)) instead. By the end she's [[spoiler:broken down in tears.]]
* StylisticSuck: If it's a parody.
* [[spoiler:SuddenDownerEnding]]: The finale ends with [[spoiler:Raku confessing for Hitoshi, only to find out he's dating his stalker now. Raku dies of a broken kokoro]] and the final screenshot is Hitoshi's mortified face. The finale itself kept on going up and down with the mood, with one moment Raku nearly dying and the next we get happy montages.
%%* SurrealHumor: Yyyyyyyyeah.
* SweatDrop: Also used liberally.
* TransformationSequence: Several -- both Raku [[spoiler:turning into a real neko and back to human again]] and Vet-sama [[spoiler:turning into a Miko]].
%%* ThatMakesMeFeelAngry: Constantly.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Mochi Ice-cream and Green Tea is pretty much the only thing they're shown consuming, other than the punch in the ChristmasSpecial.
** Episode 2 begins with Hitoshi-san sitting down to his favorite breakfast: Pocky and Ramune
* TrollFic: We hope so.
* {{Troperiffic}}:
** As of December 2012, there are 10 episodes (not counting specials) comprising approximately 68 minutes of material. However, the intro and ending themes shave about 2 minutes off of each episode, giving us around of 62 minutes of actual storytelling, over 100 tropes and ''almost no actual plot''. There has never been a show that did so much, and yet so little.
** At its total 62-minute length, ''Neko Sugar Girls'' comes in at a trope every 13 seconds, which rivals ''WebVideo/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog'' in trope density.
* TroubledFetalPosition: Raku-chan in episode 6.
* UselessProtagonist: Hitoshi. He looks to made out to be the PapaWolf to Koneko and Raku, But as soon as episode two starts he is kidnapped without any trouble and has to be saved by Koneko and Raku in episode 3.
* VerbalTic: "Nyaa~" and "Desuuuu".
* TheWoobie: In-universe; in the fourth episode, Raku-chan intentionally tries to pass herself off as one to Hitoshi-san and Koneko-chan, in order to win even more affection from them both.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Hitoshi-san, who literally has blue hair. Raku-chan's hair is bright green in the opening and vomit green in the series itself.
* YouMeddlingKids: The kidnapper says a variation of this after Koneko-chan and Raku-chan save Hitoshi-san from him.
--> '''Kidnapper:''' "I would have had my way with him if not for those meddling kodomos!"
[[GratuitousJapanese Oh, thats so Sugoi!]]
