** To ''Frankenstein'', what with the architecture of Twilight's house resembling Frankenstein's castle, Twilight's mad scientist outfit and Spike as TheIgor, Twilight creating a RobotDog brought to life with electricity, and the threatening thunderstorm going on while this happens. The story itself is a child-friendly AdaptationDistillation of ''Film/BrideOfFrankenstein'', with the robot dog in the role of the Bride.

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Gummy is included in the pet photo shoot, even though he's [[CompanionCube just a stuffed toy]] in the ''Equestria Girls'' universe.

* PetTheDog: Trixie's largest roles in the ''Equestria Girls'' franchise have her as an antagonist. However, after being helped by Flash Sentry, she goes and helps Fluttershy find her missing bunny (by pulling it from her hat).

* KarmicJackpot: NiceGuy Flash Sentry takes the time to help Trixie, who he previously argued with during ''Rainbow Rocks'' and the chain of acts of kindness this created eventually works its way back to him when Sunset offers him lunch and is joined by the rest of her friends, even Twilight.

* OffModel: The animation in general looks "off" in the Canterlot Shorts, compared to the specials, movies and the music videos. This is because the animation for them was handled by Boulder Media Inc. instead of DHX Media (the latter only animated the music videos -- "Mad Twience", "Monday Blues", "Get the Show on the Road", "Good Vibes" and "Coinky-Dink World"). In particular:
** The way lighting is rendered is very different -- compare, say, "Raise This Roof" with the first film's scenes set in the Fall Formal.
** Boulder Media makes use of smear animation, meaning that fast action sequences such as the girls' dancing in "Raise This Roof" look [[AnimationBump smoother]] than the rest of the short and similar sequences in DHX Media's work (compare, again, Rainbow Dash breakdancing in "Raise This Roof" versus her breakdancing in "Dance Magic" or "Get the Show on the Road").
** Conversely, smaller and subtler actions such as Applejack's "oh no no" hand-waving in "Make Up Shake Up" are slightly stiffer and less natural than the DHX equivalent.
** More literally "off-model" is the fact that small details -- such as the way the girls' hands are drawn when they have them open in a palm with all fingers together -- are straight-up drawn differently than the usual models, implying that Boulder's assets are different from DHX's. In particular, Sunset is back to her old attire from the first film and her hair colors match her Movie 1 and ''Rainbow Rocks'' model, and Scootaloo is drawn with noticeably thicker eyebrows than in the movies.

* ExcitedShowTitle: The only short sporting an exclamation mark in its title.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: For the final epic fail, the girls all blunder on to a wet floor and collapse on top of each other, with sound effects straight out of ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo''. They laugh it off.

* EpicFail: The whole premise of the short, ''it's even in the title for crying out loud!''

* PantyShot: Although most likely an animation error, a tiny sliver of what appears to be Pinkie Pie's pink underwear can be seen when she hops up onto a piano. Honestly though, with all the prancing around the girls do it's a surprise the MagicSkirt didn't falter sooner.

* CrashingDreams: Rainbow Dash gets so wrapped up in the book she's reading that a honking car horn, her cell phone ringtone, and knocking on her door get integrated into the story.

* RecycledSoundtrack: The music from the Stalwart Stallion opening scene of “[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsMagicalMovieNight Movie Magic]]” is reused during Rainbow Dash’s ImagineSpot here.

* DoubleDate: Pinkie Delivers a milkshake with two straws (and only one other drink) to what appears to be this with what is possibly two same-sex couples; At the table is Lyra and Bon Bon opposite Wiz Kid and Curly Winds, two background humans. While the former two are well known fan pairing (With a few hints from the staff it might be true) the latter two have been shown to have grown quite close since the original movie.[[labelnote:Examples]] Curly steadies a ladder for Wiz in the first movie, and after that they have often appeared together in ambiguously romantic situations: They appear in the crowd in the battle between the Rainbooms and The Dazzlings with Curly having his arm around Wiz (and a staff member claiming them as "Their favorite couple" in the commentary). Lastly the deleted duet version of "What More is Out There" shows them walking together hand in hand, while the final movie shows them sitting together during the CHS rally song[[/labelnote]] Here Curly is sitting watching Wiz talk with his chin resting on both hands while both are wearing nicer then normal outfits.
